Rumor : Red Dead Redemption PC Available This Year: During 2011

Yes, the PC version will be released in March 2011. You might think that the source is unreliable but if you look at the profile, it is noted that anyone including Rockstar employees can send them info without revealing themselves.

I would however, advise you to wait for the PC version unless you really cannot bother to wait anymore.
You may ask why if there is a PC version of Red Dead Redemption, why Rockstar did not announce it after 6 - 8 months of the console release like they did with the PC version of GTA?

The reasons are

1. Red Dead Redemption is originated from the console.
2. Red Dead Redemption console sales just exceeded their goal in their Q4 Quarterly Earnings.
3. Rockstar Toronto just got working on the PC version in July 2010.

The reasons why GTA IV PC is released after 6 -8 months of the console release

1. GTA series is originated from the PC.
2. GTA IV console sales exceeded their goal.
3. Some Rockstar Games' studios were free from any major project.

Now here is why Red Dead Revolver is not available on PC.

1.Red Dead Revolver is originated from the console.
2.The sales of Red Dead Revolver failed to meet their goal.
3.All Rockstar Games' studios were completely busy between 2004 - 2007
(The Warriors, Bully, Manhunt 2 etc.)
4.GTA San Andreas PC is released in 2005.

So if I were you, I would wait for the PC version and something I can guarantee you is that Red Dead Redemption PC will definitely be well-optimized than GTA IV and requires the same or even lower system requirements.

Actually l believe in the PC version of the game because of the huge success the game had in consoles.

It is just speculation, there is no evidence to suggest RDR is coming to the PC but that doesn't stop people continually doing these damn threads. Less than a week ago Rockstar were still stating "they had no plans for a PC version" now that is a pretty odd thing for them to say if they are going to release the game in 3 months time. I would've thought they would at least change things to "we do not comment on unannounced titles" which is the line the took with GTA 4.

There is no compelling evidence in the TC's post to suggest that RDR is coming to the PC but some are that desperate for this game they will latch onto anything that even remotely suggests a mere hint it might come to the PC.

Its a very very good game. I'll be honest though...I do not think it deserved all the GOTY awards.

Theoretically, RDR should be easier to optimise than GTA4.

Compared to GTA4, RDR is virtually unpopulated. Wide open empty expanses. No traffic jammed highways. No massive skyscrapers. No big bright city lights reflecting off cars.

But of course, that's just in theory. It wouldn't surprise me if it was another terrible port. If it performs at the same level as GTA4, then we'll know something went seriously wrong over at Rockstar. Again.

Thankfully, I already have the game on PS3 so it doesn't affect me really. I'd only get a PC version if it was severely reduced in price, was a good port and had some extra content.

Well in ye olden times there was a process called "let your wallet do the talking", if you are unhappy with a company and the way it is treating you as a consumer then stop giving them your money. If you are tired of waiting for PC ports of Rockstar games then don't reward Rockstar by buying the console version or the PC version.

I know it is terribly old fashioned but it is something to ponder, companies like Rockstar will only respond when their money supply is threatened.

Well unfortunately you can't change what everyone else does, you can only change what you do. Then you know what if everyone starts thinking "well I can't make everyone stop buying Rockstars stuff but I am gonna refuse to be treated this way" then we might just start making some head way.

If you want better treatment for the PC platform then it is down to the PC gamer to steer developers back that way. Buy games from developers that treat the PC at least on the same level as consoles (plenty of developers out there doing it) and refuse to fund developers that treat the PC like some third rate system. If enough start doing that we will see a swift change from companies like Rockstar.

Now if you aren't prepared to do that and just going to use the excuse of "well why should I bother when no one else will" then obviously you can't be that bothered about the issue and you are quite happy to let developers/publishers treat you like this.

I bought my last Rockstar game when GTA 4 came out, after that I resolved to never touch any of Rockstars stuff again until they start releasing the PC version at the same time as the console version and that it was properly coded and optimised for a PC. If RDR comes to the PC I won't buy it because I don't see why I should reward Rockstar for making me wait.
