And you call yourself "older" because you started with a 486? What about me? Im 24 and started with a 386 SX clocked at 33Mhz, 1Mb of RAM and a Hercules monochrome video card.......... The first PC game Ive played was Wings Of Fury under DOS 5.0

Just turned 17 on July 8. I started on some sort of IBM clone, presumably with a 386 or 486, more than enough RAM, a VGA card, and probably a Sound Blaster of some sort. Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly which game I played first. I do regret something, though-I wasn't there to experience the home computer wars of the 1980s. That, and my first computer wasn't an Amiga of some sort. (Then again, 1990 is about the time when PCs stopped sucking as gaming machines.)

Drizzt13 that photo in your sig makes no sense. It should read "You are just like Link from that classic..." Because it was Link, not Zelda, that "dress[es] like a Hobbit" and "get[s] the hot chick".

Hehe. The first 'PC' I used was a BBC Micro, then an Apple II, and got to try an Apple Mac when they first came. The first games I remember playing were text-based RPG style, like this:

You are in a dark room with four walls and a door to the West.

> go west

You are facing a stout iron door.

>open door

You need a key to open this door.

:D Good times.

28 here. Started with the King's Quest and Quest for Glory series, along with Aces of the Pacific, the original Civilization, and Wolfenstein. There might have been a little Leisure Suit Larry in there too.

I thought we were sticking to IBM/DOS based. Well, OK, I could go back to my Commadore 64 days, if we must. Back then, it was Hitchhiker's Guide (text), Shogun, and Impossible Mission, to name a few.

If we can count non PC computers, I had a Texas Instruments TI-99A when I was around 8 years old and my dad bought Parsec for that computer. You can check it out here:

24 here, I started with a 486 I think, floppy drives and DOS based. First games I played were Winnie the Pooh and educational. It took me till middle school when I visited a friends house and watched him play Warcraft II for beginning of the end with PC games.

Damn, I forgot about Hitchhiker's Guide. Vaguely remember that being a good game.

The first IBM/DOS based PC I remember using was an 8086 with 640k of RAM and a single 5.25" floppy drive. It had an orange screen (as opposed to the usual green). :)

Remember playing Sopwith in all it's 4 colour glory on a CGA monitor?

God, I feel old. :/

As for PC's - I was a Commodore kid.
Moved to PC's in about 1992 with a 386 and have just upgraded from there.
