Hey gang, Gary here I was wondering why exactly is my STEAM purchase of the sims 3 literally halting my computer.

I bought it and downloaded/installed the game, but I literally couldn't do anything. Is it my rig? It's a 2007 (I think) Aspire Acer so I think it should be able to handle the requirements of the game, but even in the lowest of settings, absolutely no movements whatsoever.

How do I get this game running smoothly as possible?

Single core Athlon 3800?

You're not going to get anything running on that. The CPU is way outdated and you're probably running onboard graphics with less than 128mb of VRAM. Time to buy/build a new PC. The mobile market has beaten your specs.

Video Card?

Memory?

Power Supply?

The Athlon 64 series launched in 2003. I can't recall when the 3800 launched, but it couldn't have been that far later.

A 2007 prebuilt with a 2003-5-era processor isn't gonna run much, sorry to say.

Sims 3 eats up memory like you would not believe.

I am sorry to say that I do believe your Processor is too weak to be able to run the game properly, My advice would be a upgrade or possibly considering the purchase of a new PC.

If you choose to upgrade then there is a step-by-step guide in the Hardware section on how to build your own machine and you can get both parts and a new machine for a good price nowadays.

He would be building a whole new computer to get it running.
