[QUOTE="madrocketeer"]Yes, through GOG.GeneralShowzerMe too. It's because the developers asked us too get it from GOG. It's the first game I've ever pre-ordered. Every other game I ever bought I was content to just wait till release day. But CDProjekt (GOG's parent company and The Witcher 2's developers) went completely crazy; they put their game up for pre-order on GOG. With zero DRM. With instant freebies. And more to come if you end up buying it. I just couldn't help but get caught in the insanity wave.
I haven't yet still plenty of time left but this is one game I'm definitely getting. I'll be getting the retail limited premium edition as they got a lot of cool stuff included. I'm more DD these days even though I still like physical but when devs like cd projekt put effort into the retail just as they did with the first I'm gonna go with that.
Geralts head eh :P(I know there are other stuff)I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition back in November.

wats GOG? I pre ordered it on steam for $45Good Old Games, CD Projekt's very own digital distribution service which normally only sells old games. But being the same company and all, the temptation to cross-promote was irresistible. I didn't pay a dime. I clicked Preorder and instantly got freebies. I only pay when I actually decide to buy. And to top it all off, they're releasing it 100% DRM free. I thought they were totally insane - so I pre-ordered.[QUOTE="madrocketeer"]Yes, through GOG.Jacen22
[QUOTE="KHAndAnime"]As much as I wish I could, I blew my money on Crysis 2 instead. :(biggest_loserCan't you cancel it? I'm pretty sure you can't with D2D. I bought it during the President's Day sale.
not yet. not sure what to make of that game. maybe i should start sucking some hype out of gameplay videos or something. the first one was pretty nice.
Preordered it as soon as it showed up on steam... of them one of me and 2 for some friends as an x-mas gift :P
Kinda bummed tho that i found out afterwards that they sold it on thier own site aswell -.-
[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"][QUOTE="kieranb2000"]Nope, gonna wait for reviews. I wasn't a huge fan of the first for various reasons and I want to see if they have been fixed in the sequel before investing in it. Mainly, I want to see if the combat and quest structure are better.kieranb2000It is. Well that's good to hear :D The side quests in the first Witcher were almost all terrible, and the combat was fun but repetitive. I am now more hyped for this game!
:),
i know i didn't leave any details, but yes it's the truth.
The quests will be much more structured this time, it won't resemble an MMO and it wont have that much backtracking.
They will be much more focused. Also the combat is completely revamped.

Here.
I think i liked the isometric view and clicking more, but i think more people like the new system.
No, I'm one if a very small minority that still prefer a disc copy.

I generally prefer retail versions for "must have" games as well, but of course don't shy away from digital distribution with the awesome sales on Steam or picking up titles from GOG.com for example.
You can pre-order from The Witcher 2 from retail right now actually, Amazon for example.
However, consider this if you weren't already aware ---games from GOG.com are completely DRM free. You buy a game and it's available for download as many times as you like from your account (similar to Steam), the difference is with GOG you download an install file. Once the install file is in your possession, you actually never need to go back to your account again for that game (of course you can if you like). You can burn that file to disc, save to thumb-drive, external hard-drive, whatever and can install and play the game without an internet connection! It's a stand-alone installer, you're free to install on whatever machines you like, how many times you like, play simultaneously, etc without the keys to your destiny being controlled by someone's server. It's under your control regardless if your internet connection is disconnected for some reason or your account has been compromised in some manner for example. The install does not need to be "unlocked", the game is completely DRM free.
Naturally this doesn't help at all if the reason you prefer retail is because you want the tangible items or waiting for a retail promotion deal, but it is an option for those that prefer to have copies of games that aren't dependent on accounts and/or servers.
