Do I have to turn off my computer every night when I'm not using it?
Usually I just keep it on and let the screen turn off itself. What do you guys do?

Yeah, I shut it off during the night. It only takes 5 second to shutdown and maybe 30-45 seconds to boot so it's no big deal.
For those who say that constantly booting will kill off your HDD in time... well mine has gone through over 2200 power cycles. My PSU about 1500 cycles.
Have your router do your downloading, put tomato or dd-wrt on it.
Yes I turn mine off.

I keep forgetting to try dd wrt. I see its finally availble for one of my routers (E1000 linksys)

I have yet to use it but I hear great things. I need to do that this weekend. My gaming pc usually, unless i'm downloading something. It only takes 20-30 secs to boot so its not a big deal. My laptop i put in sleep mode
Turning your computer off is for newbs. My computer hybernates after 1 hour of no use. I like being able to wiggly my mouse and have my computer be totally usable within 10 seconds.
Yes, I turn it off at night. Mainly because of: 1.) Electricity Usage - what good is running an idle computer overnight while it sucks away at electricity? 2.) Dust - Dust sucks. I don't need anymore. There was a point in my life where I ran nicely configured "gaming" Dell 24/7 for weeks at a time, but the thing ended up dying. I suspect it was dust + heat build up.

I can do that too.:)
I was speaking engrish, note the ALL (multiple) and Problem (single)
I was only referring to the fact that he probably never dusted his machine.
the more you know
Doesn't make sense, keeping it running actually prevents dust to settle in the mecanism. In my experience, I've seen a lot more of people shutting down their comp, and just not being able to boot it back up afterward. Anyway, I always leaves it on because elictricity bill is cheaper than SSD and a lot faster not to boot.Yes, I turn it off at night. Mainly because of: 1.) If you turn your PC off, you won't have dust being drawn through the case and heatsinks.Yes, I turn it off at night. Mainly because of: 1.) [QUOTE="Domobomb"]Jesus, your car looks amazing. Very nice. You should post it in the 'Rate my rig' thread, for the lulz. :PYes, unless I'm downloading. No need for extra heat or electricity.

Well thanks! I've got a few more pics in my blog I just started. Link is in sig.

I've already had a look at it. :)Hmm... Doesn't sound like correct English to me... You don't fix all of one problem. You just fix the problem.C_Rule
I said engrish.
Go ahead and google that.
I have the sleep timer set for a hour but i have to agree that most problems with a pc will happen after you reboot...
I sleep my computer if i'm going to use it in the same day. It is always off overnight. It only takes 1-2 mins to boot fully so i don't get the point of wasting power.
