Great to see

Those requirements aren't that high for what could potentially be the best looking game of 2013.

That's awesome. Dump DX9. That was Crysis's biggest problem. Those games are too big for DX9.

If they are dropping DX9 and forcing DX11, then I can believe it.

A lot of that trailer we just saw utilized a lot of DX11 features.

At least my computer will most likely be upgraded by 2013. Just gotta wait for Christmas.

What should the minimum be? Far outdated 200 cards? Recommended isn't far off at all.

I am sure a GTX 275 will handle the game fine without the dx11 effects. I have an old GTX 275 and it still can do well with most games. I also have an 8800gt and it still does fine although I have to lower the settings in quite a few of the newer games especially texture resolution. I think the 8800gtx is one of the cards with the longest lifespan as that card can still do well today if you consider it's age. The only other card I tried that lasted near as long was the ATI 9700PRO since it was the first directx 9 card from 2002.

Recommended is a generation and a year behind the 600 series.

The game has not even reached beta, speculating about minimum requirements is retarded. I don't understand all these sites that just make up requirements and create confusion.

Good, we are finally moving forward with most games now starting to drop XP. Like the old windows OS's, XP just has to be rendered obsolete.

I own the limited edtion of Crysis and Crysis 2. I will be pirating Crysis 3 since I won't buy a game that forces me to use an OS that I dislike. Good thing I spent a whole day making my pirated windows 7 as identical to my custom XP as possible so when new games come out I can just install my backup image of Win7 that I created and play the game. When I'm done I can reinstall my legit XP image making things exactly the way it was as if I never left XP. Best part is it only takes 15 minutes to make the switch to or from XP. That is how it will be from now on since I won't pay for something that I can't use on my primary OS. Since I don't use Win7 and only use it temporarly to run a game, I don't see why I should pay for it. The move of no longer supporting DX9 games is going to make a lot of loyal XP users just pirate more and more. DX11 is a joke. I've seen so many better looking DX9 games such as the original F.E.A.R. or Mafia II. Those games look amazing. DX11 is nothing more than true DX9 at it's best. Black Ops II calls itself DX11, I thought the graphics looked like Turok from 2008 which is DX9. I own a huge collection of games and wish I could continue building that collection. Looks like my game buying days are over. At least Mass Effect 3 multiplayer will keep me busy for the rest of the decade on my beautiful customized XP that looks and runs so much better. I'd rather repay MS $140 every 10 years to renew my XP license(if it'll continue support) than to downgrade to Win7 for free.

DiggityDoggie79

I hear you...Thats why i never left Win 98 SE...i mean...what the hell is this dx11...it is just true dx6 at it's best...I wont buy games anymore either...

Even though I'm not a big fan of the crysis series, other than the first, I am glad to hear that more and more devs are kicking the crappy old DX9 to the curb. It's about damn time, and it needs to happen everywhere. We are WAY past the day so bring DX11 into all games already!

There are so few gamers that stick with XP these days, thy can easily be forgotten since they're so ridiculously stubborn for a gimped out old OS that performs worse than Windows 7 (and certainly even Windows 8)...it's time to move into the current decade people.

I wouldn't worry. People forget the first Crysis lies about DX9 vs DX10 difference? It's Crytek after all: you need DX 10 to play on very high; consoles can't run Crysis; we never promised Crysis 2 will have DX 11.....

And it's developed also for consoles and I think they're the main platform now but still it should/will look, run better on PC.

Anyway was there any big difference between DX 9 and DX 11 in Crysis 2? From what I know it had tessellation and a few "DX 11 effects" that weren't that amazing. I couldn't run it in DX 11 cause it required a 64 bit OS and 4 GB RAM and I had only 2 GB but the game looked great in DX 9.

It's "you're", you're a retard If you're going to insult someone for liking something different than you, you should at least use proper grammar. So if I drive a 1957 Chevy in mint condition does that make me a retard just because my car stands out amongst the rest? I believe in personal preference, not doing what everybody else thinks everybody else should be doing.

They still force you onto the Windows platform if you want to play the game.

I wish more developers had some ideals and principles so that they would create their games to work with more than just one private company's proprietary OS :|
In the long run it would be much better for everyone, except maybe the greedy old men behind the big companies.

What about my 4850 512 mb? I'm not too worried about my 2.33 ghz quadcore, but unsure about the video card. At least if I can run the game at 720p, which I was able to do fine with Crysis 2, I can see a little more of what I might have been releasing since they didn't do dx10 with Crysis 2.

CRYTEK are pros @ making state of the art graphic, but I can't stop giggling at their "offical system requirement", (crysis1 and crysis2 anymore?) this "official recommended system" can barely run crysis2 steady, judging from crysis3's mp alpha the processing power crysis3 requires will at least double of triple of crysis2.

all I can say is good luck trusting crytek's "official system requirement" (is not like I care, already geared up for crysis3 anyway)

or 480p. My 570 is overclocked to 580 specs, and at 1080p the alpha ran like total ass :P

Because of the shadows...i have a gtx570 superclocked also...and everything was on max @ 1080...it ran bad...but then, i have turned shadows to medium and i had 60 fps constant.

Yet another game to push systems, here it is:

Crysis 3 system requirements (minimum)

  • CPU: 2.8 GHz dual core processor, Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Phenom X2 or better
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Graphics: DirectX 10 graphics card with 1 GB RAM, Nvidia 400-series or AMD Radeon 5000-series.
  • Operating system: Windows Vista
  • DirectX 9c sound card
  • 16 GB free hard drive space

Crysis 3 system requirements (recommended)

  • CPU: 2.4 GHz quad core processor, Intel Core i5 or better
  • RAM: 2GB (4 GB for 64-bit operating systems)
  • Graphics: DirectX 11 compatible video card with 1GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 500-series or AMD 6000-series or better.
  • Operating system: Windows 7, Win 7 64-bit is preferred
  • DirectX 9c sound card, dedicated audio card is preferred
  • 16 GB free hard drive space

XP and DX9 getting less supported!

If the recommended requirements are for 1080p, cool! I can delay assembling a new PC.

Alpha versions are meant to run like total ass yo!

Actually Nvidia cards ran the Alpha like ass. I could play the alpha maxed out just fine with a single 7970 @55fps. I did get like 35ish fps when in Eyefinity and Crossfire but I guess, it multi-gpu support isn't a priority in the alpha phase. :p Funny, Crysis 3 is a Nvidia- sponsored game but the Alpha ran much better with AMD cards. This is becoming more common lately.

Nvidia has been dropping the ball lately. Even for their "Nvidia" advertised games. Hopefully they could get back on the horse and release some drivers that show noticeable improvements.
