I would pick Company of Heroes, this game required lot of strategy and great gameplay.

i would also say Company of Heroes, but many others will say Starcraft. I just loved everything about CoH, the setting, the gameplay, the full destruction physics support - everything.
I preferred the "Age Of Empire" series i like it alot more then StarCraft and it is well supported with AddOn's

Yup, me too, particularly Age of Empires 2, one of my all time favourite games
I'd have to say either the Red alert Series, Age of Empire series, or even the Rise of nation series. Why? Good war play and a nation/army to build. That to me is nothing but tactics. Company of heroes is great but I wish it had the full RTS value to it. I'd like to wait before I vote on starcraft two until it comes out not the beta.

C&C Generals ZH, dont know why people hated it so much its an amazing gamesexy_fool69I liked ZH a lot too, but it is not the best RTs.
C&C Generals ZH, dont know why people hated it so much its an amazing gamesexy_fool69Twas a good game. COH gets my vote though. It's amazing how much strategy that game encompasses while still being real time.
I'd go with Age of Empires II and its expansion. I logged more time offline with that game that probably any other game I've played in my life, StarCraft included. I don't I ever played it online once, aside from LAN matches with friends.
well, i only own 2 rts games, starcraft and starwars: empire at war...i think starcraft wins this round
[QUOTE="kieranb2000"][QUOTE="Trinexxx"]Where's the love for World in Conflict? I own it, but have not played it yet. I recall a 9.5/10 from GameSpot though. cybrcatterI don't know about everyone else, but I personally thought World in Conflict was a mediocre, shallow and incredibly overrated game. Same here. It's a pretty shallow RTS compared to its competition. It isn't the best RTS but I found it very good. While there in not much variety, I wouldn't call it shallow. and it is far from mediocre. The game had an amazing story and online system unbeatable by any other RTS game.
If we're talking strictly games which follow a conventional RTS format of objectives (build up your base, build army, blow up enemy base, do this in one battle), Company of Heroes + Opposing Fronts and Homeworld have my favourite approaches because of their relatively complex combat mechanics (which drives their excellent gameplay) and their comparatively cinematic designs which makes them more "believable" than other RTSs.
Homeworld invented 3D RTS. A fully functional Z-axis revolutionized how RTS games can be played. Great gameplay, story and fully moddable to boot.

Everything he stated is correct though.
In terms of sheer amount of enjoyment i'm going to pick WiC the game was blast to play both offline and online a game doesn't need alot of complexity to provide an amazing gaming experience.

no where is safe from aku101!!!I think Age of Empires II is still going to take this for me. The original game plus The Conquerors provided literally days of entertainment whilst I was growing up. The game was great and the soundtrack was also brilliant. For a more modern choice, I think I would judge World in Conflict as the best RTS multiplayer game.
