Starcraft was always a classic. Warcraft is still goin strong with its RPG feature "heroes". Command and conquer is another classic. So for me its either SC Series, WC Series, or C&C Series
Warcraft 3 (Fantasy), Command and Conquer Red Alert (Military), Age of Empires 3 (Historical), and Company of Heroes (Modern Military) are all great in their own respects.
Starcraft for good old fashioned dirt farming, base building, swarm your enemy gameplay. I prefer C&C Generals right now because I've played too many games of Starcraft in college. Company of Hores for more tacticle gameplay without resource collecting (thank you Ground Control). Dawn of War is also good if you are tired of playing WWII games.
WC3 and frozen throne for sure, one of the classics/the best. Age of Empires back in the day, Rome Total war was also pretty good, Company of Heroes is pretty good. Dawn of War
Well, Starcraft is a classic, but I think it's a tie between that and Dawn of War, though Dawn of War will likely be switched with Company of Heroes once I buy the full game. I only played the demo, but it kick a very large amount of ass.
Personally, I played more of Red Alert 2 and it's Yuri's Revenge expansion pack more than any other RTS game, so it gets my vote. However, I really appreciate newer games like Battle For Middle-Earth 2 because the difficulty is highly scalable in the skirmish mode versus the computer AI because of the handicaps. The handicaps are in increments of 5% and it really doesn't get much better than that. It ensures that the game is accessible at virtually any skill level and that you can gradually increase the difficulty rather than just selecting "generic" skill levels like Easy, Medium, and Hard.
Battle Realms is a great game, its so different from a lot of games. Mainly because its not scifi/fantasy/ww2 inspired probably ;). War/Starcraft are still right up there though, they're just plain old great.
Hmm, there's a lot of games to go with. But if i have to pick one, that i think is the best. It would have to be Warcraft 2. But there's an incredibly thin line between Starcraft and Warcraft 2. They're both so freaking good! :-)
It has to be the Comand And Conquer Series. Those guys revolutionised RTS with games like Red Alert. But my favorite C&C game has to be Red Alert 2: Yuris Revege. That game OWNS!
really cant see why this company of heroes thing... it was like...4 hrs playing and I bored of it...(and finished the campaign) joint task force is very better!
Warcraft 2 and Red Alert 2 the best! After that Generals (which is totally red alert 2 in a new cistume) Warcraft 3, though I don't like the way it looks (realy not cool)
Basicaly, I'd say all the 2d strategies were better than the 3d ones, maybe because they were the first or I dont know. I get realy strong feelings when i recall the times.
Yea Warhammer does kick ass i like being the orcs in it just having swarms of orcs is just so cool to do. Another rts I like now is Battle For Middle Earth 2 which is fun but to compare those two games together i think warhammer is way cooler
