I could honestly say that my best experience in gaming was when I played the first Jedi Knight called Dark Forces from lucasarts. It was the first game that you could look up and down and the puzzles were soo much better than adventure games today. - came out in 95 i believe?
but playing my very first PC game, Diablo, in early 1997Â was a great experience that led me to being a dedicated PC Gamer. That game was incredibly addictive.

That was a sweet game though. I played Dark Forces 2, not so sure if that's all that different. Maybe Quake was the most revolutionary thing of its time though= today, FPS gaming's huge.
Red alet 1 and this star war lucas arts where you got weapons and they had the squid creatures in this dump and you fought orcs and stuff two. Awsome game i remeber. Also warcraft 2.

I can't disagree with what has already been posted. Here is my list, and in no particular order:
Doom and Doom 2 (no surprise there) Quake (the first). Sorry, but did not like 2-3. Half Life Deus Ex (still, today, a lot of people have not played it) NHL 94 (Sega Genesis, but Pwned for its time) Do not remember the title (for the life of me), but Kate Archer was the heroine. Jedi Knight, Dark Forces 2. Kyle Katran rocked!!!
That would be Wing Commander 3 and 4.They were the first games that showed me that gaming could be an artform.After that, Half-Life, which was the first game i ever played where i felt like i was actually IN the damn game.
My best gaming experiences, and hence my best games of the 90's would be:

Though if it MUST be a PC game, as this is a PC game section, for me it would be Starcraft.
Quake 2 - in its time, a perfect blend of action and setting. It was id software at their height and the only fps i've finished more than once. Everything kinda went downhill for id after that

in no particular order games worth plaing:
system shock 2. (i think this is my favourite. although i had perfomance issues at the time... computer related i have to say.) unreal and all it's incarnations. doom, heretic, hexen, hexen 2, blood, quake, sin, duke nukem 3d etc resident evils... (psx.) dino crisis, parasite eve... half life monkey islands... grim fandango, full throttle, the dig, simon the sorcerer, indiana jones series. (what happened to point and click?) dune 2/ dune 2000/ settlers... (amiga.) warcraft 2, starcraft, dungeon keeper kingpin, (1999.) whitch haven (just because it is so awful it's good!)
My favourite game in the 90's was a WWII combat flight sim called Aces Over Europe. Flight sims have gotten a lot more graphically impressive since then, but I have yet to play another flight sim that was so immersive and offered such a dynamic campaign. Aside from that, Diablo was the game that introduced me to hack & slash RPG's. And the fact that it had online cooperative play made it absolutely addictive.
Halflife, not just because of the game though. The Halflife engine(a heavily modified Quake 2 engine) was great for both singleplayer and multiplayer gaming and gave birth to some truly great mods. It changed PC gaming forever. I actually didn't enjoy the singleplayer campaign for Halflife all that much.
