I remember playing Lego Island when i was around 6. I was so happy because it was my birthday and my dad took me to the musuem to look at fossils all day, then we went home and my mom bought my favorite food at the time (and possilbly now?) kfc honey bbq wings, and then my present was lego island. AWESOME! my dad replaced about 2-3 videocards because i said that the movements were blocky, which was a little kid's explanation of lag lolz.

Did anyone play pc games a lot as a kid? Which was your favorite

Sim City comes to mind too, but i could never figure out how to make the cities grow and have people until now

Probably when I would go over to my friends house and we'd play PC games on his two computers. Starcraft, Rune, and Medal of Honor: Allied Assault were awesome.

I used to play lego Island when I was a kid. I would also play Age of Empires II, almost all the Sim games, Populous the Beginning, Red Alert and Tiberian Sun. Those were much more recent though. I started on games like Jazz Jackrabbit, Rodent's Revenge, Hocus Pocus, and Clyde's Adventure (which is still pretty fun, but frustrating).

Installing DOOM on my 486sx under my parents noses. They thought the game was the absolute devil.

Other than that, Hero's Quest 1, King's Quest 5, and SkiFree :D

Wolfenstein 3D. I remember my dad bringing it home, actually hiding it from my mom, and showing me the box all conspirator-like in the back room. I couldn't have been more than 8-9 years old, lol.

Yay! Someone who's probably in the same generation as I am! I was beginning to feel kinda old by just reading the other posts.I mean was in High School already when I was playing Shogun: Total War.

King's Quest 1 is one of my most memorable childhood games along with Bard's Tale 1, Ultima IV, Leisure Suit Larry 1, Sim City and later on Monkey Island 1!

I thought I was going to be the only one to mention C64 games! My childhood memories are of the Infocom adventures and Microprose Simulations like Silent Service and Gunship! My first PC game I bought (it was a 286 12mhz PC with 1MB ram - a powerhouse!) was Police Quest 1 by Sierra - in 16 colour EGA with beeps for music as I didn't have a sound card! Please check out my thread about celebrating PC retro gaming - please comment on your views! :)

Mixed-Up Mother Goose. I always felt lost and immersed in its world and enjoyed meeting new characters, hearing the songs, and completing the game. That game had something magical about it that I rarely find in games today. Granted, it was a game for children, but as a kid it definitely toyed with my imagination and showed me just how immersive "adventure" games can be.

Warcraft 2 is another game that I had a lot of great memories with. I remember purchasing the "B.Net Edition" and going online, only to continuously be curb-stomped every time I tried to compete with veteran players. Regardless, I can't shake the musical toons or voice-overs out of my head and the game was always fun, even if it didn't have tons of depth and the factions weren't actually diverse.

The first game i ever played was Lego Racers,i couldnt get off it,i guess that showed very early, that i could easily get addicted to any game :)

Then i played A LOT of sega games, and then,i moved on to PC gaming, that was it,i got my first PC when i was 8,and i think the first games i installed were AoE (Age of Empires) and MiB (Men in Black,a action puzzle game).

Those were the first games i recall of playing, good times, good times!

The earliest I can remember was sonic on the sega. But on PC it must have been Age of Empires and Zoo Tycoon (Jesus christ the crazy ideas you came up with, as a kid, on trying to create havoc was insane :D), then later on a few years of Warcraft 3 O.o Which still entertains me to this day.

King's Quest series and the original Prince of Persia!

God I remember that 1-hour time limit from POP, and you had to be able to count and read fast because there were parts of the game where you had to look for the first letter of a word in the manual hahaha old school copy protection!
