As PC gamers, what music do you listen to?

From what i've seen, and this may be very wrong, it seems a disproportionate number of gamers, especially pc gamers, listen to metal as opposed to other kinds of music. it seems most of the time when a youtube video of gameplay is posted, it is set to metal. i listen to metal, as do most of my friends.

so this is a kind of survey, as a PC gamer, what kind of music do you listen to? say the genre, don't get to specific, i don't want this thread to turn into a music popularity war. please don't mention band names, for the reason i just mentioned.

Alternative/indie is my favourite genre.

I also like electronica, classical, some acid jazz & fusion, and some folk music. I really don't like metal at all.

I like all kinds of music, to be honest. I have everything in my collection, as far as genres go. My favorite kinds of music, however, are jazz and prog rock.

I personally cannot stand listening to metal.

Classical,neo-classical,prog rock,speed metal,black metal,heavy metal,nu metal...anything really.Depends on the game of course,if its an rpg they usually have kick ass music so i listen to that instead.The witcher sound track is awesome...especailly chapter ?? cant remember,when your at the lakeside after being teleported just before getting a kiss off the princess,loved that music.Set the scene perfectly,especially at night with the moon on the water n tings.

Wow. My man. Just summed up pretty much what I would've said. I went into my music library and realised that most/all of my music falls under indie or alt. rock. Some electronica is pretty cool (Radiohead!) While I don't have any pure "jazz" pieces, that's probably one genre I'd like to get into.

On another note, I do have a whole lot of Rammstein... but that's feels completely different than the likes of, say, AC/DC or Metallica. Much nicer sound, if I do say so myself. But anything with screeching guitar and an loud angry singer... keep that away from me.

Mostly Opera. My favorite is Luciano Pavarotti.

I also listen to MDM such as Soilwork.

Orchestral pieces to Techno, music is a mood for me.

'70 Rock, '80 Heavy Metal and some classical/symphonic music. I love opera vocals too.

hey, don't start anything, i said i don't want this thread to turn into a fan war of different bands.

so far, with several excepctions, it seems the general trend is that most like metal, along with other music, which is not suprisng. i'm no different.

i've got a friend who's really into trance. its some crazy stuff.

Rock and Indie mostly. (not really a fan of Metal).

I like good music, regardless of genre. Except for metal. Save for a few bands, you could say I hate metal.

Metallica, White Zombie, Kiss, Pink Floyd, They Might Be Giants, The Cars... I'm all over the rock spectrum

I listen to Metal, Hard Rock to old rock like The Doors. I also listen to Rap (prefer Gangster), some country, some R&B, pretty much anything except opera. As far as what I listen to while gaming, that depends on the game. Most games I don't listen to music at all, but I have been playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I have been listening to mainly rap while playing that. My favorite genre of music would have to be metal. Slayer was my favorite band growing up.

Mostly I listen to Metal (all subgenres) and Rock.

Metal, Classical, Rock and that's about it.

i'm supprised to see so many people say hip hop and metal. they don't seem like very compatible genres. i guess it depends what you place under the hip-hop genre.
