Anyways, I love Fallout 3. I also had some fun with the Witcher. I also highly recommend Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines which is on sale at Direct2Drive right now. Bloodlines is one of the best RPGs that I have ever played.

I haven't seen it listed yet, but Mount and Blade: Warband is absolutely awesome.

The Witcher is great fun, and Oblivion isn't bad either. Fable is good after you really get into the adventure.

Hrm I missed out on Vampire Masquerade back in the day.

Anyone know how it would look on a TV at 1920x1080 from about 5 feet away? I ask because many games do not scale UI / FONT size and at these resolutions I can't read anything.

I also wonder if it will run on Windows 7?

BTW I concur with Risen and Divinity II - some good euro RPG goodness there.

I don't get all the love for The Witcher. I bought it around the holidays, based on hype, for around $13. I still haven't finished it and doubt I ever will. It's really not all that great unless you get excited by pixelated mammaries.

I agree, it has many many flaws, horrible combat, too much running around, lack of any challenge, in particular, but it is a breath of fresh air compared to most current RPGs that recycle the same boring plot and stereotypical characters over and over again (ME, Dragon Age).

However, I don't get why people are recommending TW and Planescape:Torment when the guy clearly said he doesn't like 'dark' games. TW and PST are as GRIMDARK as they get.

Risen is a good recommendation, also Baldur's Gate 2, while it's not 3rd person, has actiony combat and you can control up to six guys at the same time. it's basically like Dragon Age only way better.

It runs on my win7 with a patch i found on the net, but the top resolution is 1280x1024..
