You could spend 100+ hours going through all of Oblivion.....yet the main quest was only about 4-5 hours long if you ran straight through it.

I have yet to find a single player game that has had me dropping 200hrs of game play in. I've come close to a few games just because I greatly enjoyed the game and they also offered online co-op or even local co-op, so not all the time sunk into the games was solely single player.

I'd guess the main quest will run you maybe 30 hours - which would be awesome, as long as the story isn't long winded and dragging out when it can be summed up. Kind of like in FarCry 3 - the story line with Vaas was dragged out way too long Get caught, escape....get caught and left to die, yet escape, get caught and left to die.....yet escape.....then get shot and left for dead, yet live.....god the story was just dragged out and got boring.

Well I am about to hit 500 hours on Skyrim. I had over 800 hours on Oblivion and maybe about 100 hours on Morrowind. I played the first Witcher and I didn't care for it that much, but I haven't played the newer version or The Witcher 2. I will definitely check this out depending on if Bloodborne, Diablo III, Dragon Age: Inquisition and Pillars of Eternity give me the time.

I don't really want a 200-hour Witcher, to be honest. I love how tight the narrative and events are. I hope that, if you avoid doing every silly side thing you come across, the game still has this strength; I don't know how going "open world" will affect the depth of the story and choices we make (I feel like some shallowing is inevitable as the world becomes more complex and they can't control the order of events you take as tightly).

Well I'm currently playing The Witcher 2, currently on act 2, around 36 hours, and I already want it to finish. The first one was a similar thing. I just don't see what's so good about a ~200 hour long Witcher game.

I look at these (presumably) inflated figures and yawn. "Great, another game spaced out with repetitive filler". When a developer says a game will take "200" hours I don't hear a value proposition, just an impingement on my time. Hopefully the game will prove me wrong.

I had troubles getting into The Witcher 2. I greatly disliked the part near the start of the game where you're going across the bridge and you have smash a "button" that pops up on the screen to dodge the dragon attacks. For some reason that really turned me off. I maybe put another hour or two into the game after that part and I just didn't like it.

I did not enjoy The Witcher and the "smash" attack button to fight - it was boring. The combat was dull. The only reason I really went through the game was because I enjoyed most of the story line.....I might force myself to get through The Witcher 2 some day, just not anytime soon.

Exactly what I was thinking, but most players will probably just focus on the main story. I've always been one to try and enjoy all the aspects a good game has to offer, and Witcher 3 seems like it will be, but we'll see. DA: Inquisition had me hyped in the same way but was ultimately disappointing for me....

i just dont have time for a 200 hour game anymore...

DAI, i still havent finished.... and dont know if i ever will honestly.

games that are 12 hours are just perfect. i will never complain about a 10-12 game in terms of length.

That has to be with optional side quests. As much as I hate short games no game should take more than about 30-40 hours to complete. I wouldn't buy a 2000 page book and I won't buy a 200 hour game.
