@MonsieurX: yeah it does...I actaully didn't know anything about that gpu before I checked benchmarks.

its in the same league as a 7770 so it will struggle to max games from last year or two and may not run some new games at all.

what price is the build? if the whole build is cheap just adding a better gpu might be worthwhile

gpu is the graphics card, so that gtx 745 is a weak gpu.

the gpu does most of the work when playing games so it needs to be a good one.

the system you posted is not good value for £799 as it would struggle to run some new games and even older demanding ones.

for £799 I'd want something that can handle anything.

order all the parts from a site called pcpartpicker and either build your self or pay a PC shop to do it, they will charge between £20-£50.

wait for cosenaith, 04dcarraher , predator rules, to post they will hopefully recommend you a system Thats good value to buy for that price.

if they recommend a system costing £700 you can use the money saved to pay a shop to build it.

@bulby_g Thanks, I'll have a look at it.

@thehig1 Ah, thanks for explaining that. Its just been so long since ive done anything with PC's that I cant remember anything lol Yeah for £799 that's what I was kind of hoping for as I want something that's going to last with current and possibly next gen gaming. I'm fed up of not being able to play any new games or if I do get something to work it has to run on the lowest setting an some games just look awful an freeze or jump during gameplay. Yeah I'll definitely wait for them to hopefully post. Thanks again for your help so far.

@mikeyaldc: GPU is really weak in that pre-built. But the pre-built that bulby_g mentioned is just right with a nice GPU for all the modern games. You should go for it.

@mikeyaldc: for £799 you can have a system good enough for majority of this generation, if you follow the steps I said.

I would post the build myself but I'm on mobile and its too awkward to do it on mobile site.

plus those posters are more knowledgeable than me on that.

decent enough build, if you went with that you'd have no issues running games for a while.

@insane_metalist Sorry for the late reply, I was on a night shift. I really appreciate what you have done there. So would that be good enough to play all current games an is there availability on the motherboard for upgrades at a later date?

@thehig1 Yeah i'll deffinitly look into it mate an I really appreciate the help you have given to.

Yes, this build will pull all the modern games on high settings without a problem. You would be safe for quiet a while. Are you talking about adding another card later on (SLI)? If so then go with this mobo right here (it is SLI/Crossfire capable) - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/Dg6Wyc

I was thinking more about adding more ram as I read somewhere soon games will want 12gb but don't know if that's right or not.

All ATX Z97 boards can run up to 32GB of RAM. It's really up to you weather you like 7 or 8 more. I prefer 7 personally. There are still some games that won't work on 8 while you can play any game on 7.

Windows 8.1 and gpu not good! Remember Intel's new cpu is coming out in about a month or so....just wait and get windows 7 & a better gpu .And if you are lucky Intel Broadwell will be worth a whole new build. Cheers...& Happy Holidays!

W7 probably wont have DX12 (if it matters to you), and seeing how you keep PC's for a long time, it might be better just going with W8.1

Hiya guys,

I had to put buying a new PC on hold due to funds but with seeing the announcement of Fallout 4 I'm going to make sure I have the funds to buy a new pc towards the end of this month. I still have the previous recommended build from pcpartpicker, com saved but I was wondering if there is a more up to date spec someone could recommend for me. My budget is around £800 and I'm looking for something that's going to last me a good while an want it to able to play all current games on high settings.

Thanks again guys,

Mike

Hi Guys,

Can you tell me if this looks any good?

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/xfCYYJ

I know I've a little over my budget but this includes a monitor which wasn't in my £800 budget but this also includes everything down to like a sound card and network adaptor.

Thanks,

Mike

@mikeyaldc: Locking this because it's a 6-month necro and it belongs in the AV/Hardware board rather than here too (the board was split into 2 and this has just ended up in the wrong section as everything defaulted to this one and old threads weren't manually transferred). You're free to recreate it with just the up to date information in the correct/linked board, where you're also more likely to get a response.
