I'd prefer it, they need to separate religion and politics.

[QUOTE="Jandurin"]

Of course. God has no place in politics.

I should say: God should have no place in politics. Reality, unfortunately, follows different rules than ideal.

Yes. I wouldn't care what a candidate's religious affiliation is, as long as I can be sure they won't screw everything up or mix religion and politics.

If the US Presidential candidate for the party you would normally vote for were an atheist, would you still vote for them? I ask this because I recently found a report that found 52% of Americans wouldn't vote for a well-qualified atheist.Bourbons3

52% isnt too bad, only a 2% margin to throw things out. Personally, it all depends. Really, if they cared about protecting the rights and freedom's of religion and had the same morals and ideology as i do, i dont see any reason not to, because essentially there would be no difference between him and any other candidate beyond the tag "Atheist". However, few atheists in this world care to leave religion be, they seek to disprove, to convert the "ignorant" from their "barbaric" belief systems and often supress religion because of the "evil" it spreads and provokes.
