Without Wikipedia, I wouldn't know all the random facts that I know about. It's a big part of my research in anything and everything that I want to know about.

I remember when there wasnt any Wikipedia. It would have made my schooling so much easier.Jd1680aDoes anyone remember B.G(Before google)?
Not in school anymore but from what I'd gather about wikipedia is that it is not a trusted source for reference material. I use it for unimportant fact checking and triva questions but would look for something else if it was for a grade

I don't think you have to be that terribly old to remember the internet pre-google, though. I know! Let's look it up on wikipedia! I think I might remember too, back when AOL existed and computers made Transformer noises to get online.

My sister and I wall-papered two of the walls in my bedroom with those AOL free minutes discs everyone got in the mail constantly.
I use to take them at walmart and places that offered them to play Frisbee.
I don't know why some people don't think that wikipedia is a reliable source. Not many people will go out of their way to post false information. If they do it often they will get banned. Also most people just edit in stupid things and don't even make it sound real.
Yeah about the only thing I use wiki for is summaries or inks to sources.Probably about the same. I tend to read a lot of things outside of Wikipedia as it is.

I sure did learn some stuff from Wikipedia I wouldn't have figured out as easily otherwise. I would miss the website if it shut down.

I wouldn't say it dictates intelligence. Knowing things =/= intelligence but you can still fool people.
I actually made a point to memorize as little as possible my whole life. If it can be written down, then so be it. I leave the data on the page and leave the real work to my brain.
Wikipedia might give you more knowledge, but it doesn't give you more intelligence.
