I read an article about these supposedly controversial policy changes, but nowhere in the article could I find any actual information that sounded the least bit controversial to me. Seems like a lot of fuss over nothing. The media is basically just making a "news" story out of some people on the internet doing what they do best - complaining and making a mountain out of a molehill.

Only use Youtube and the search engine. So I guess this doesn't really apply.

Google tracks you across the whole web with their add engine, take a look at the do not track plugin if you want to see how many sites are tracking you

I only use Gmail for receive mails and not even from contacts, only from news from sites like Gamespot or for register accounts. But I guess I'll start using another search engine.

I used Google, Gmail, and YouTube. I am only ever logged in when I use Gmail, however. I also have an Android phone...:(

I'll be using Opera and Bing for my more......sensitive searches.

The question is will I keep my gmail, and I haven't decided on that one yet.

Serraph105

Opera is great with their private browsing mode. It's by far the best one out of all the browsers. :D

Does this apply to chrome? because if it does its time for me to switch my browser.Nolan16
Of course it does. They can only really do whatever if you have an account by which they can identiy you, however. Anyway, may I suggest Firefox or Opera?

[QUOTE="SauceKing"]

yea im using google...

everyone else should too.

Unless you are doing something illegal, it doesnt matter... and if you are doing something illegal, it doesnt matter if you use google either.... using yahoo or bing isnt going to magically make all your online activity invisible to the world.

If you want your internet activity to be anonymous, use a good proxy, or an access point other than your home.... otherwise, everything you do online is easily traced back to you.

Agreed. We should all know by now there's no such thing as privacy on the internet. There never has been. Unless you've got something to hide and are up to something dodgy this should not affect you. If you at least want to try to be anonymous there are ways to achieve that.

It still collects your information from other places, which influences search results.

Kind of creepy. Not sure I want to get an android-based phone and have them connect it to what I do elsewhere and my location. Guess I can just bookmark youtube vids, block certain cookies, and use a VPN if I'm really that worried. Also does this mean everyone is forced to have a google+ account that automatically imports information from other services? That's pretty stalkerish.

Right, I wouldn't either, but if I'm reading this correctly they don't give you a choice in having the other services and sharing information with them... so if I don't have a google+ account they could make one for me anyway and use information from other services that is theoretically viewable by anyone. I'm comparing this to CNET's incorporation of our GS accounts across the different websites such as MovieTone and TV.com... I guess the only way to prevent it would be to not browse anything else from your android phone... but that defeats the purpose.

Where are you getting these ideas from? All it means is that they're integrating their service more. If you don't have a Google+ account, they're not going to ram one down your throat. If you choose to make one though, you might find it easier to set up, as everything you've done on other Google services will be integrated. Come on, it's Google. It's not as if they didn't already have all the information and power they need to bring the world to its knees if they really felt like it.

Yes. Google can know everything, I don't care. If they asked for naked pics I'd probably send them tonight. Unless they start plastering my info all over the web I don't see the big deal.

I use Search, Youtube, Chrome, Android, Maps, Navigation and I could care less. What could possibly happen to me. Absolutely nothing. Don't explode the policy changes out of proportion. It won't effect you in the slightest. In fact, I doubt you'll even notice anything has changed once the stupid notifications go away.

Exactly. I don't even know why people even bother with other sites for videos...
