Poll Will the USA enter a civil war? (91 votes)

yes 9%
maybe 16%
no 75%

I think so. The incensing tension between left-wingers and right-wingers, (with centrists caught in the middle) secular humanists and Christians, etc. It's a ticking time bomb. Both sides have become increasingly hateful and fearful of each other, often using violence as a means to achieve their goals.

It seems doubtful. The rights to vote, campaign, and peaceful protest are large deterrents to going to war with each other.

I hope so. Having the US gone as a sole superpower will be good for international stability in the long run.

it needs to be more serious , than what is going on right now. There should of been riots in 2003 when Bush invaded Iraq. Not one peep out of anyone. The racism issues needs to just calm down to and the government needs to address the police training to stop Police brutality against innocent people, regardless of race. Trump might surprise people and create more jobs for the uneducated, who knows, to. The anti abortion stuff doesnt surprise me, America is 70% by stats Christian, that's close to 280 million people that are chrisitans and if they follow that belief, Chrisitans are anti abortion. SO him stopping teh funding towards abortion overseas, isn't surprising, considering hes a christian.

I think current events in America are the most interesting for a long time. Trump is very entertaining and who knows what he's going to do next, but he seems very business driven. I think the biggest indicator of performance in the next few years, will be if he can bring the 20 trillion debt down , while still creating prosperity and improve education for everyone. It's very interesting.

We aren't even close to where we were in 1860, the last time we had a civil war. People are going to protest, people are going to claim on their social media accounts that Donald Trump isn't their president, and people are even going to riot.

But nobody is going to convince their state governments to secede from the union. Not even California with them giving Hillary Clinton four million more votes than they gave President Trump. They would rather regroup and try to regain Congress in 2018 and the White House in 2020.

Trump is doing a damn fine job stirring up shit to protest so, who knows? I just heard that Trump put an order to punish sanctuary cities so it'll be fun seeing Chicago turn into a boxing ring. Sanctuary city ringleaders already said that they're ready to fight Trump tooth and nail every step of the way.

Yeah, but we have most of the cash and tech. We'll pay Google to create an army of killbots.

In all seriousness, we're not even close to a civil war yet. Maybe in a few decades, but first there would be a few years of the following:

  • Unemployment, like over 30%
  • Real riots with deaths, not just a few broken windows
  • Food and water shortages
  • Jailing of political opponents
  • Martial Law declared in many places on a regular basis

You can't have a war without an army. There may be lots of rioting but I doubt it will become a civil war.

No, this "tension" is something that has been created by bad media outlets. There will always be a degree of combativeness between the two, but to suggest something along the lines of a civil war is rather silly and IMO part of the fear mongering Alex Jones far right wing fake libertarian... cult. The people who justify ownership of any firearm by pandering to fears and are constantly promote these fake narratives that they have never been correct or accurate on (mostly because most people are not this absurd). The fact is, MOST voters dont have these hostilities. MOST citizens dont have these hostilities. And MOST of the population would not be able to justify such a thing..... Its also worth pointing out that our extremely corrupted government would not want this. There is a degree of self preservation here that people tend to ignore, but will take precedent 999999 of 1000000 times.

IF there is a war coming up that would be internal, it would be a class war but i dont think we are there yet. Give it another two generations of our current political status and id bet we would see class warfare. But as for a civil war between parties, no, thats not going to happen and will most likely never happen, ts a stupid idea brought to you by extremists who want to push bullshit.

Exactly, and the military isn't going to split over a political issue.

Also, we not nearly as divided as the media likes to claim. Hell, I have friends that are Trump supporters and haters and we all get along perfectly fine. This is all overblown.

At the end of the day the average citizen just wants to live their lives peacefully and with relative prosperity. It would take a hell of a lot to make that go away, a lot more than 8 years of Trump or any president.

The funny thing is this fake situation would end up being a slaughter because idiots on the right think that people suggesting rational regulations on firearms, means they hate firearms and dont own them. As we'd see, many would simply assume they dont have them.

We, in all states, value our comfort far more than our freedoms. It is extremely unlikely. Kind of like that grand race war white supremacists love to rail each other on, over and over.

This has to be the biggest joke-thread on gamespot so far.

Civil-war over a democratically elected president? not to mention that who would start that war? the snowflakes who could not even stand up and gather enough to vote and actually affect the election in a proper way?

Jacanuk: And I am still wating for you far-right people to take over the universe and put women non-whites and homosexuals into concentration camps. Outside of the USA and maybe the UK,the alt-right is largely considered a joke. I say this as an independent. Heck, the UK wanted to ban Donald Trump, so there.

No, because liberals would lose any control that they have in this country if it came to that. The US military isn't exactly made up of hippies.

If it did happen then the Great Wall of America would be built at a much cheaper cost using liberal slave labor.

While I don't claim to be an expert on what's happening in America, a civil war seems doubtful.

Hating on Trump just seems to be a trend for young people who think they know everything about how life works.

I do 'now' that.

You do know that I am talking about what would happen in the aftermath of a civil war between liberals and conservatives right?

If liberals started a civil war in this country right now. Then the current democracy that we have wouldn't hold. Socialism and Liberalism would be crushed and instead of a President you would have a Dictator.

Of course that won't happen anyways so don't worry. Only the left stands to lose anything in a civil war because they know it would be a complete slaughter.

No, not in the near future. We still have it too soft as a whole to care enough to do anything. But Trump is likely to push in the right direction. When there is no middle class and a majority poor population expect a repeat of the French revolution.

Were not at a point where people will take up arms against each other. And a chunk of Americans wouldn't even touch a gun. Or try to create improvised explosives.

There's a ton of division in this country. But killing people isn't fun business. Murder is generally a common area that people draw the line from good to evil in their moral conscious.

The communist label you are applying to the resistance of Donald Trump does not apply and is well out of date as a talking point. About 60 years out of date. None of these people are communists and when one uses that term it shows how out of touch they are. No one in their right mind thinks the protestors are fighting for communism. I know news travels slow to the red states but this is ridiculous.

The French Revolution was caused by the French Monachy's long lasting costly war with the British Empire which bankrupted its nation. A parallel can be seen with our wars in the Middle East which has cost us $6 trillion so far. You can't blame that on Trump but of course you'll try, but Obama was the one who already made that push in that direction by expanding the US bombings in the Middle East. Under Dubya we were bombing 4 countries and then under Obama we expanded bombing to 7 countries and dropped 30,000 more bombs than under Dubya.

@FireEmblem_Man: "they" How many are "they" and lets see some non right wing blogs showing these pictures of numerous communist flags. @samanthademeste a ticking timebomb? Often using violence? WTF are you going on about?

Things are pretty damn peaceful. The very fact we can have as much discourse as we have with as little violence as we have is actually a testament to our democracy, ideals, and so forth. It is not a trial or tribulation of them! Get a grip!

Stop buying into sensationalism, mass media, and bullshit. You see one asshole break a window, light a fire, or throw a brick and suddenly you think that's normal? Well, shame on you for being gullible.

Me? No, thanks, I won't be joining the "California Militia" to go shoot the "Nevada Corp of Freemen" for speaking their mind, thank you very much. Even if they are a bunch of racist greedy pricks that called me a filthy treehugging pussy.

The Middle East is worse off now than it was when Obama first took office. It will be hard to top what our outgoing Nobel Peace Prize winning President accomplished in the Middle East. There aren't anymore countries we can bomb in the Middle East, unless we start bombing our so called Allies. Maybe Trump can make new countries in the Middle East and start bombing them too so he can surpass his predecessor.

But based on what Trump said during the campaign about having a strong military but never using it. He has backed up most of his campaign promises already so hopefully he'll continue and get us the hell out of that land.

Since 1991 when we first established our presence there under Daddy Bush. We've spent Trillons in the Middle East and all we've had to show for it is over 6,000 dead, over 60,000 wounded, and even more who are screwed up mentally they can't even function in society anymore. I would hope that he washes his hands of everything in the Middle East and pulls us out. We look to ourselves from now on, we only protect our own borders. None of these interventions overseas that only benefit other nations who won't even defend themselves but expect us to pay for it and forgive their debt to us.

No, not in the near future. We still have it too soft as a whole to care enough to do anything. But Trump is likely to push in the right direction. When there is no middle class and a majority poor population expect a repeat of the French revolution.

I wont be trying anything of the sort. I said not in the near future. Lets see if Trump pulls us out of war or gets us into new ones. What do you think his contribution to war and peace will be?

Amen!

Living under a rock much? Communist ideology is more alive than ever these days, and much of what the left are fighting for is Marxism in one form or another. Already forget all the leftist media praising Castro when he died? Think the left liked him because he had a beard or something?

The left wants unchecked, ever-increasing socialist policies (like Obamacare). And communism is basically what happens when socialism goes unchecked.

Then you'll invite the psychotic Anarcho-Communist to smash shit up like they did in the Inauguration

All people are welcome to protest. But please be safe and take caution.
