Why do all cops get fat?

I dont mean for this topic to get offensive. Its just that all the young cops are strong and fit and they look like they could run a marathon. But as they get older and start indulging in more and more donuts, they get fat. Alot of the older cops (35, 40+) get fat. I think they should HAVE to stay fit, not just be fit once. What do you think? Should they have freedom to be as fat as they want, or should the protectors of the law be as fit as possible?

Although there are certain body fat standards set, you go over the set limit they discharge you.

At first, they are on the streets looking for speeders and other traffic violators. After they get a couple of tickets for the day, its time for some Dunkin Donuts. (they say quotas don't exist, but then how would they make money?) Later in their career, they can either be radio dispatch or more like an office job, but there will still be more Dunkin Donuts. They hardly are on foot pursuit so their thunder thighs get even more thunderous from just sitting and driving. This, of course, is the typical NJ cop...

Because once they get their own cop car all they do is cruise around in it all day and barely ever get out of it. There job is similar to an office job, they rarely ever have to get out of their car. Sure they get in to foot chases but probably only like once or twice every year. Not to mention up here in Canada cops get free Tim Hortons, and they make sure to get value out of that because i'm always seeing cops in Tim Hortons getting donuts and coffee haha.

Desk jobs and police cars. They don't get that much exercise from them.

As they get older the work in the office more since they are higher up and don't have to drive around a get criminals like the young cops that just joined

The ones I see are usually in relatively better shape than us average citizens in that age group, if a comparison really needs to be make

Most cops are fat because when they're not out catching people doing drugs, then they're eating food and fattening up for the winter.

40 year olds are not by nature extremely overwieght.. Though I rarely see this with most police officers.. But some it boggles the mind how they are on the force at all or at very least in a desk position.
