Ray Bradbury's books are raved as great sci-fi novels. Maybe check them out. Within that genre I can only speak for 1984 and it is a must read for every human being in my opinion.

A bit of everything except romance focused books and religious books. I wanted to buy a Koran but my bookstore didn't have it.

The Carl Sagan book looks interesting to me. I have read a book on a similar premise to "Breaking the Spell": It's okay. What classical philosophical books have you read?

Think I've read a few Twilight, Howling Moon, and Howl at the Moon. Not sure if I read anymore then that or not out of those one I thought was decent was howling Moon.

They were actually pretty good adaptations. My favorite has to be the first, the third and the fifth.

Why do you read so many books about religion being bad if you are confident in your atheism? Mystic faith is so easily refuted and inconsequential that even one book seems gratuitous.

Fantasy, science fiction, and biographies primarily. I often read books that don't fall within these genres as one-offs though.

Mainly literature of all kinds and non-fiction usually involving history. Typically it's ancient history, but lately some recommended books have landed me in American history involving the old West and my own interests have shoved me into books revolving around the early 1900s.

The Demon Haunted World is a real good read, and I've been waiting for a lull in my schedule to start Breaking the Spell, among other books. You have good taste, in my opinion.

Also, I enjoy Stephen King, and that's about it for fiction novels these days. I used to read a lot of fantasy, Brooks, Tolkein, Salvatore, Greenwood, etc...but not so much anymore.

I tend to like non-fiction about 19th or 20th century history. Just read a great book about the Manhattan Project. Books with an architectural focus or books about WW1 or WW2 probably make up the most of my collection. I also love books about aviation, especially old-timey ones such as those by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I also tend to enjoy books by Twain, Stenbeck, etc... both of them have non-fictions too. Twain's are especially funny. Recent favorites have been Devil in the White City (about the Chicago World's Fair and a serial killer), Nothing to Envy (about North Korea escapees), and The City in Mind (about how cities come to be the way they are). Stuff like that. Any other recommendations are welcome!

>Fantasy (i.e. Game of Thrones) >Informative/scholarly religious (i.e. university-level texts on particular traditions) >Experimental fiction (i.e. House of Leaves) >Non- and anti-religious non-fiction (i.e. Hitchens, Dawkins, etc) >Eric Arthur Blair Granted, it's been months since I read any book, mostly because I don't have time to really sit down and read. That, and I just haven't been in the mood to read for a while. Though, I feel like I might need to get a good book going again soon.
