It's about that "white" people should still feel ashamed about slavery and that, the sometimes very violent, African-American culture has nothing to do with violence leading to issues like white flight.

It's about white people being white; we are scared, racist,dumb and an in denial over our heritage (where everyone was a slave owner, even if you were not an american etc).

Agreed! Race is just one of the tools that the Elite use to keep the masses divided! If more people in America knew about the REAL history of slavery and indentured servitude, there would be little to no racial issues.

Let's go back to where it all began here in America! Indentured service was a labor system created for poor Europeans who wanted to start a new life in The New World (America)! The system was not as bad as slavery but in certain situation the conditions weren't much better! When these bad situation did come up, the Europeans in the system realized that they where in the same situation as the African slaves. Eventually alliances where formed and rebellions became wide-spread!

The ruling class had to come up with a plan to breakup these rebellions. Race, religion, science, economics,education and politics where all useful tools...that proved effective in dividing and conquering the people.

So I guess if people wanna know what's going on today, study history and I'm not talking about that B.S that's being taught in our current education system.

Thanks :) and what's worse is that prior to the colonization on America, color( black and white race) was not used to describe groups of people! People where identified by their nation of origin, so technically, the white and black race did not exist. That propaganda began around 1600-1700.

Race matters. Considering our history, from slavery to Jim Crow to the Civil Rights Movement and even today with mass incarceration, police brutality, and constant stereotyping from mass media, it still matters and will continue to matter. And I highly doubt it's the elites but more due to white supremacy and culture. And no, it's not just blacks but everyone including white people such as Arabs, Jews, Slavs, and the Irish who were also discriminated against.

Also lol at equating indentured servitude to slavery. Blacks were seen as inferior to the point where their lives didn't mean jack shit. They were raped and brutalized, and were withheld from reading, writing, and the basic freedoms our Constitution was suppose to deliver.

And you are correct, indentured service was "NOTHING" compared to slavery, but nevertheless, it was enough for some people to realize that the ruling class was screwing the poor and something had to be done about it.

Yeah. Arab people (which most people think is a race of brown-ish people) are actually Caucasians (white folk), come from a region called the Middle East (because relative to England it is mid-way between "The East", China and so forth), but is technically West Asia.

Often wondered if my ancestors would have had anything to do with the slave trade. Well whether there was or not, the blood of a nation stains all hands. You are right that it is important to point out events that can be easily subverted to what any one just wants to hear. I know this might sound controversial, but never got why Americans have to be pigeon holed. Latin American, African American etc. Seems a very divisive system. One born out of the slavery times I assume.

Agreed, multiple ethnic groups played a role in the transatlantic slave trade, including Africans themselves! Not all of the Africans where taken by force, there where tribal wars amongst them and almost in every case, the losing tribe got sold off to the slave traders.

The point I'm trying to make is that no one group should feel any guilt because of the deeds of our ancestors but we "ALL" should have a better understanding and most of all RESPECT for each other.
