I will sum it up short. Basicly this freaking idiot said that Europe has caliphats in areas and complete sharia laws. He named Sweden Germany and the UK. He also said that islam had taken over europe so much that "it was finished". He also claimed that Birmingham in England was 100% muslim and no one was allowed in there. Truth is, it's 22% muslim and it's all made up

Wow Foxnews always manages to somehow stoop to unprecedented lows. It is an affront on the entire American nation to have a major news outlet constantly spewing completely distorted and unfounded claims and highly malignant rhetoric. If these so-called "no go zones" actually exist then they would be the European variant of the American projects, black/Hispanic neighborhoods...etc. Meaning, they would simply be places where abject poverty, ignorance, marginalization and subsequent segregation reign supreme, albeit of a different variety, a seemingly religious one. A resident of western Europe wouldn't be able to go to such a region inasmuch as a decent, timid American citizen of any race wouldn't dare setting foot in a high crime neighborhood. In the U.S it seems race is the defining trait of these places while in Europe, if they exist in the first place, religion or maybe country of origin or simply origins (immigrant or native) would be the chief characteristic of these places.

I have a feeling warmongers are trying to capitalize on what happened in Europe and to cash in on the resulting consternation spreading across the western part of the continent to recruit more into the ranks of belligerents and ravagers. It is a shame that their efforts will most likely be met with considerable success. My guess is that Cameron took notice of it, which is why he went out of his way as a PM and gave the matter his attention on a public outlet.

Unless they were paid by Fox News, they're just guests. Thus they aren't actually Fox News.

The news channel isn't lying. The guest is. Do you not see the difference? Also, whose to say you wouldn't say this about somebody who might not be lying and you just happen to disagree with? Why do I want your views to be the only one being heard?

Birmingham is 46% Christian and 21% Muslim, thats very far off being a Muslim only zone. Either he is crazy or he's lying.

A news station should not report lies, they shouldn't have let him on the show and potentially mislead viewers. The purpose of a news station should be to present facts, not to spread a political belief (especially if you do so through lies)

Is there some kind of facility in the Nevada desert that spawn these people and let them roam free to see how long they'd survive with a increasingly low IQ?

That doesn't change the second part of my post.

Edit: Actually, it doesn't change anything. It's not the news channel making the claims. It's a guest. And he probably won't be on again.

I read about it on PRI. This is another reason why I don't watch or read anything from Fox. Bringing some idiot on to your station to spout lies on television doesn't make you balanced, nor credible. He was a guest, yes, but he was a guest on their station, on their broadcast, and as a result, represents their content.

There is an element of truth to this stupidity though, we do have areas over here that are heavily muslim and there have indeed been cases where -- admittedly a minority -- have harassed people.

You do understand the purpose of news stations bring in guests like these? It's supposed to be a news station, not a debate show, and even then they still didn't argue back so anyone watching it would assume that the presenters agree with his views. They should have kicked him off as soon as he made that claim and then issued an apology, it would still be bad as it shows that they have terrible judgement of picking guests, but what they did here shows complete disregard for truth.

You do know the difference between a news station saying something and a guest, correct? I don't think you do.

Also, your expectations are unreasonable. No news station fact checks live. How would they know he's telling the truth or not until after the fact?

Why did a "news" station even have an uneducated guest on anyway? Like I said it's not supposed to be a talk show it's supposed to be a news station, so why doesn't it start acting like one.

If you want it to be balanced you should have a shitload of people up there at the same time discrediting that fool. Then it's balanced.

I never cared for this balance bs that Fox News and others claim to be. If on any particular day you have 50 bad news stories about Obama then you report those 50 bad stories, you don't need to look for 50 good ones to "balance" things out. And if the ratio is 5:1 in positive news for Obama on any particular day or week or whatever then just report that.

Just like there is no need to bring a climate change denier to make it seem that the scientific community is divided 50/50.

Fox News slogan is Fair and Balance but I always thought they should strike that balance part out. Just be fair. What is fair is fair.

A news station being balanced makes no sense at all. For everything thing they say that's true they should also have a lie? News isn't supposed to be balanced it's supposed to be truthful.

Exactly. The news is supposed to deliver facts. If someone interprets the facts to be too 'conservative' or 'liberal', that's their problem. The facts are what they are.

But Fox News isn't "just" a news station, it also provides commentary or opinion shows. Like O'Reilly, Hannity and Cavuto.

Those don't need to be neither fair or balance. Or basically pretty much all of MSNBC which pretty much all opinion and commentary, you don't them trotting out conservative commentators, which on many instances could completely destroy their silly liberal arguments which I guess is the reason they don't contrary views in many of them.

Because fox news is the channel

Here's an old Daily Show segment where Fox News clarifies their programing...and then (rightly) get made fun of for it:

"Fox News defends itself against an attack by the Obama administration by explaining that most of their shows aren't real news."

You can't view that video outside of the United States.

That shit doesn't fly with me. You can't claim it's something and then in the small print say it's something else. When you call your self "Fox News" you set a standard that you should follow. If they don't like news reporting then they should change their name and put up a disclaimer that what they're saying is bullshit that nobody should take it seriously.

darn, it's a good segment about fox news is just a big news-opinion circle jerk.

Their defense is that the average person is able to tell the difference between news reporting and editorializing/opinion pieces.

The tweets at the bottom are pure gold hahaha

Seriously though, the PM makes an excellent point: Muslim communities aren't to be feared, and cities that bring together various cultures should be admired and seen as an example to follow. We shouldn't be discussing how bad Fox News is; it's absolute trash. We should instead be focusing on the point the dude was trying to make:

Barrios in London are Muslim, where's the problem with that? Towns have Muslim communities, so? Why are we trying to disprove Britain being full of Muslim people, rather than ask the question "so what if it were?" That's what I want to know.

Honestly Fox News and MSNBC are just news stations that provide social commentary from their own political viewpoints. They both have a rather loose definition of the term "expert" especially when it comes to the guests they invite to speech on shows. Most of the time, from what I've seen all it takes to be called an expert on a topic is having wrote a book on it according to them. That being said the whole "no-go" zones thing probably has more to do with poverty than anything else. Most major American cities have areas where the police do not patrol without special precautions being taken.

I like the tweets underneath the article.

Fox news always has guests on that haven't read into things properly.

I will sum it up short. Basicly this freaking idiot said that Europe has caliphats in areas and complete sharia laws. He named Sweden Germany and the UK. He also said that islam had taken over europe so much that "it was finished". He also claimed that Birmingham in England was 100% muslim and no one was allowed in there.Truth is, it's 22% muslim and it's all made up

Did he?

Based on that video, the guest expert was wrong about Birmingham being 100% Muslim. But, the claim that no one was allowed in there is also wrong. What he said was it was a place non-Muslims would not go to.

There's a small FOX News defense force consisting of Conservatives on here that feel the need to defend FOX at any time because they are on the "same team".

Who is this he? And why was is not qualified to be interviewed? Like what's his occupation?

Emerson is one of those self-proclaimed pundits who think because they made a few documentaries no one in their right mind has seen, qualifies him as an expert on terrorism and islam related topics.

Fox News just had him on because he said the right things they wanted to get out.

Sad just sad..... i get that you might have similar views but when something is so blatantly a lie , i would expect any sane person to be able to either use 2min on google or see it straight away.

BTW, how do you know there are 20% Muslim? I don't recall census to ask for religion. So, how do you know which white guy is a member of Muslim religion?

There's a census every 10 years. Last one was in 2011.

Birmingham city council has made a survey which found that out of a population of just around 1.1mill

  • Around 42% of our residents were from an ethnic group other than White.
  • 46.1% of Birmingham residents said they were Christian, 21.8% Muslim and 19.3% had no religion.
  • 22% of our residents were born outside the UK, compared with 14% in England and 11% in the West Midlands region."

But I guess in the mind of Off topic, Fox News often lies therefore it's alright to lie about stuff related to them

Lie? seriously..... calling someone a liar because he made a slight error is really bad.

And he does actually say "Is not allowed" its just in London where he claims that there are areas under sharia law and where you need to be following those to enter. But its easy to miss the london part.

But i guess when you are actually on Fox´s side you need to grasp at straws to make your side seem more "right"
