These are 2 different types of water towers. One is a just a upright cylinder and the other is a tank style. Tank style no longer need multiple legs for supports either. The first are the now being dismantled Gwinnett County water towers that are next to Interstate 85. The other is the James City County water tower (actually owned by the city of Newport News water works department of which I worked for years ago and I have been in).

Depending on where the satellite that is taking the picture is at and where the sun is at, influences how things look. Some places you can see shadows pointing one way and just a few feet further away, they are pointing another.

So that is where my giant Frisbees ended up going to.
