Was planning to watch The Hobbit : an Unexpected Journey from December 2012, today managed to watch it in 3D finally. omg, it was sooo boring lol. Visuals, camera work were great maybe its best 3D movie i seen yet , but pace of the movie was very slow. plus not enough action. Not even close to any LOTR trilogy epicness.

Maybe Peter Jackson has great plans for the upcoming Trilogy but The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey dissapointed me highly. Maybe Gangster Squad will live upto its hype.

Who else got dissapointed with The Hobbit?

It was disappointing, yes. I'm not going to judge "The Hobbit" adaptation until the second movie is out on Blu-Ray and I can watch them both back to back and rate them as one movie.

I thought it was a fun movie and pretty epic at that. Pacing was similar to LotR, but they're VERY different movies. If you went into the movie thinking you were going to see a rehash of LotR, it's no wonder you feel disappointed.

I enjoyed it. People had some lofty expectations for it which is unsurprising given how amazing The Lord of the Rings is. But the Hobbit book is nowhere near as dramatic as LoTR since it doesn't have the sense of doom with the ring story. It's just a fun adventure with a bunch of crap happening.

Why should they hate me for watching Hollywood movies? :|

I dunno, i didn't get my fill of entertainment from the movie. Didn't see enough of Mirkwood Evils or Smaug which i was anticipating. Only Thorins and Azogs war was prime highlight of the movie than Bilbo Baggins story. Gollum scene was overlong. Many other unneccessary plot holes.

Maybe Peter Jackson will interwine the triology's as fullfilling and true to the book, its early to judge. But yeah, didn't enjoy it as much as any LOTR Trilogy.

I'm not scary! I was just bored, for the last time...

I heard footsteps, slowly climbing up. The sound of mining pierced my ear. Then, in the dark tunnels of my mine, I seen it...

I don't get why everyone needs action to be satisfied. And there was plenty of action, that was enjoyable. It had more original, thoughtful scenes, especially the one with Gollum and Bilbo having the battle of riddles.

And the pace was not that slow. A ton of things happened in this movie. People need to learn some patience, sit back and enjoy things.

Yes and no. Was it a great film? Hell yeah. It's especially a treat to watch in the theater. Did it live up to the last three film? Hell no.

I'm reading the book at the moment, nearly finished it now, but I can't work out how on earth they can stretch three long loooonnnngggg films from it. Can I ask where it ends (spoiler alert), at a guess in the woods, at Boerns place, or is it after the Goblin Mountain? Maybe on 2nds thoughts they just leave the Shire at the end of the film & set out on a unexpected journey. Looking forward to seeing it, but can tell its a bit of a rip off already.

The goblin king CGI was a little bit crap. The trolls comic relief was unwelcome, I never read the book but if that bits in t here, it didn't translate well to film.

Your so right but I can understand how some people might feel awkward during none action scenes in a movie with expectations such as this one. If you got fairly young kids or demanding girlfriend with you, you might feel for them, or you might feel for the audiance around you. When scenes start to drag or scenes feel silly and out of place (the frigging trolls) you feel embarrassed for everyone. That film did that to me about 3 times.

The second film and third films are meant to bridge the gap between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by using the backstory in the appendices from the books, of which there is a large amount.

Learn to be patient. The only scene that I thought dragged on a little bit was the riddles scene, but it did have a pretty big part in the book if I'm not mistaken.

It was ok. Better than Fellowship but not as good as the other two. LOL at saying this movie was long and poorly paced, all the LOTR movies are like that.

It was certainly not as moving as LOTR, and I think it used too much CGI. But the book is not as heavy as LOTR, and it stayed extremely true to the book. Ian Macellen and Martin Freeman were great, even though not all the actors were flawless as LOTR. I was satisfied. I am hoping for better sequels though.

I'll tell you how: 130 pages of Appendices. And the fact that whilst everything in LOTR is spelled out and detailed, the Hobbit is vague. Where does Gandalf go, and what does he do? The movies will cover it. They're adding a lot of Tolkien material into these movies. And it ends a bit after the Mountain, right before Beorn.

Also, the LOTR trilogy is a once-in-a-lifetime type of movie. There will be nothing like it for a very long time, so trying to find one in every movie is pointless.

Your quite right, it skips straight over that in the book, so the filler is obviously worthy in the film, thats good.
