The former college professor and board member of the Ayn Rand Institute wrote an incendiary column this month in Forbes, arguing that the community should give back to the wealth-creators and the world should be indebted to the rich and powerful for their enormous contributions to our standard of living.

He also reiterated his call that anyone who earns more than $1 million a year deserves an exemption from paying taxes, a symbolic gesture he notes, because the great achievers (individuals like Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and Steve Jobs) lifted us out of the cave and gave us our standard of living. He also proposes that the highest earner of the year maybe an investment banker, hedge fund manager or CEO be given a Congressional Medal of Honor in return for his or her contribution to human life.

I totally agree. We should be giving the Kardashians complete tax exempt status for being such an enormous contribution to society.

Everyone making more than $1 million a year absolutely deserves a tax exemption.

So does everyone making under $1 million a year.

Was it the rich guys on Wall Street who caused the crash or was it the little guys?

You know what he's probably correct, we should thank them by giving them our paychecks and allowing government to give them a tax free ride. All hail the mighty creators.

Hey, don't even compare professional athletes to reality TV stars. Being a professional athlete is a ton of work. More work than most people will ever do. Any trashy person can be a reality TV star.

yes, because when we were living in caves, we needed investment bankers and CEOs, not hunters and gatherers and workers.

No no no...we needed people who did not want to work, wanted others to work for them, and make all the profit while sharing only a portion of it.

Haha, you do not play sports at a nationally competitive level for fun.

They have no experience outside their sport.  They are entertainers, and nothing else.  Well, maybe wife-beaters, dog-fighters, and drug-dealers.  But that's it.

Just because you can't appreciate athletic ability doesn't mean other people see them as valueless. The amount of money they make proves otherwise.

Curious to where he thinks all the money comes from that the 'rich' earn. The 99% are the consumers, so shouldn't the 1% be thanking them for allowing their business to flourish? Its a two way road as producers and consumers both need each other. We don't exist in a vacuum.

No, their gain.

I think $250k/year should be tops for NFL players.
