Hi, I want to get into a new anime and have Netflix. Please suggest an anime that you enjoy.

I've already seen all of the following:

Fruits Basket

Full metal Alchemist

Spirited Away

Howl's Moving Castle

The get backers

Pet Shop of Horrors (Freaked me the FLIP out)

Also feel free to discuss anime here.

EDIT: I HAVE HULU NOW AS WELL.

I see that you watched Full Metal Alchemist, did you watch the brotherhood version, because that one was much better then the original IMO.

I enjoyed the following

  • Death Note
  • Gurren Logonn
  • Trigun
  • Eden of the East
  • Attack on Titan(This one might be in Japanese auto only)

I can't speak for what's on Netflix, but if you haven't seen Neon Genesis Evangelion, Akira, or Princess Mononoke, you should get on that. ;)

On Netflix I suggest: Deadman Wonderland and Death Note.

They've got fairly tail on Netflix. I'm taking all these suggestions, I think all of marat8's suggestions are on Netflix. I'm starting with Death Note because its been suggested twice so far.. Thanks guys keep em coming can never have too much anime!

The anime Highlander movie was really great. From the fellow who made "NInja Scroll" a classic 90's anime.

@TheHighWind: Fate/Zero and Madoka Magica are both good and are on Netflix. also is Netflix the only way you're willing to watch anime? i could suggest a few good series that aren't available Netflix.

Death Note and Attack on Titan, also I'd recommend checking out Hulu too since they have WAY more anime than Netflix does.

Hunter X Hunter 2011 is on Netflix. It is by the same mangaka who made Yu Yu Hakusho, a classic anime.

Samurai Champloo if it's still on Netflix, and Attack On Titan was pretty darn awesome.

Just want to remind everyone that downloading anime that hasn't been licensed in your country IS legal (at least in the US), so that might open up a few less known options that you won't find on Netflix. If anyone needs a list of good subbers (normally japanese audio, that's what I download) let me know.

Fate/Zero seconded. It's a must.

I don't know what's on Netflix but look up these ones:

Baccano
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Monster
Hellsing Ultimate
Psycho-Pass (second season is currently airing)

It's not on netflix though....

I am patiently waiting for season 2 of Psycho Pass, Sword Art Online, and Attack on Titan to eventually hit netflix.

I don't know what's available and what is not on Netflix, but here is a number of anime's that I believe to be worth any anime's fan time:

Welcome to the NHK

Rahxephon

Aoi Bungaku

Genshiken

Neon genesis evangelion

Kino no tabi

Mushishi

Basilisk

Last exile

Ghost in the shell

Eve no jikan

Aoi tamago

As for shounen flicks, I recommend Naruto, D.grayman, full and metal alchemist brotherhood. Shingeki no kyoujin wasn't half bad either.

These should keep you busy for a while and I suspect that they'll all be positively received by you.

Other than the ones already mentioned I'll just add Code Geass, Hellsing Ultimate and Sword Art Online.

Did you watch full metal brotherhood? that's the only full metal you should really be watching

death note is fantastic, i always thought bleach was underrated, cowboy bebop, kiki's delivery service, my neighbor totoro

this should be enough for you to tackle for now

You like MGS, so go for Kill la Kill. That show is almost as if Kojima came up with half the ideas, and Tsumugu and Aikuro are basically Snake and Otacon; it's great.

Some of my favorite series I've watched beside what you've already seen are:

  • Cowboy Bebop
  • Gundam Wing
  • Outlaw Star
  • Gensoumaden Saiyuki (first two seasons, Reload, Gaiden and Burial; Gunlock just fell apart)
  • Escaflowne
  • Record of Lodoss War
  • Death Note

Movies I'd recommend are Princess Mononoke, X, and Yu Yu Hakusho: Poltergeist Report. You may want to watch some of the Yu Yu Hakusho series before the movie, however I did not and was still able to enjoy it (working on watching the series now). X is also an anime series, but I haven't watched it yet so I can't comment on which is better, though I'm sure you get a lot more background from the series.

If you liked Pet Shop of Horrors, you really should read the manga! The story is even better and there's a lot more to it, plus a second series called Pet Shop of Horrors: Tokyo (though I think I enjoyed D's interactions with Leon better).

I've heard good things about Cowboy Bebop, and it's fairly short (20 something episodes) so you could power your way through it fairly easily.

I disagree with the what most people say about FMA Brotherhood btw. Full Metal Alchemist was by far the superior story.

Playing the game of it too wouldn't hurt either, okay sure you'll probably want to break your computer after you're done playing it but hey, it's worth it. While you're at it, might as well add Boku no Pico too. It's such a great romantic anime that would inspire anyone to do good things.
