BTW- Microsoft Paint(MSP), GNU Image Manipulation Program(GIMP), and Photoshop are the best places to make sigs/avy/banners.

The best way to upload pics to the internet is through Photobucket, Imageshack, or here at Gamespot, just look in your Profile/Images!

Lots of size questions and problems with uploading in preferences can be answered in Welcome Newbies, but here's a load of help:

ADDITION!

I thought of a good system for ratings on sigs and such, so I moved it here for you guys. You can choose to use it or not, but this is how I grade so use this as a thought on how to rate-

Creativity is clear and the mods usually set an example for a perfect sig. Creative, memorable, personal, well-designed, and interesting. Basically if you can look at your sig and think its all of the above, you got a perfect one. I rate on a point system out of 10 points. Point totals go as such:

0/10- no sig visible

1/10- a random quote or line of text, single banner, single link, mini-picture.

2/10- personalized any of the above^ or interesting of any of the above^

3-6/10- any of the above, without a well-defined picture, or a bad layout,

7/10- sig picture, though not creative or a good picture.

8/10- sig picture with possible links/text in as well, still not creative or great picture

9/10- sig picture&text, good picture, well-defined for user, but confusing, lacking something to make perfect, usually minor fixable details.

10/10- great sig its personal, interesting, and well-desiged. Congrats on making a creative and memorable sig!

I give point deductions usually one, but some offenses incur bigger point deductions:

BIGGEST ONE:

Center pic -1; a centered pic makes it look less cluttered, especially when you have more stuff in sig, and looks so much nicer, especially in smaller sig pics.

Missing username -1; Yeah your username is just a few inches to left of your sig, but lots of people don't look there, more often than not, users are remembered by their sig, and it's nice to let them know who you are through personalization.

Bad pic -1;- colors or unoriginal pic, the pic is saying to me what is this or that ugly.

Broken link -1; we all like to see links to stuff your interested in or personalized, but if its broke or leads us nowhere(especially a rickroll) it doesn't need to be in there.

Multi banner -1; there is a website that puts those sig banners into a slideshow format, which is way better than 2 or more sig banners. You're making me stop to look at your sig and watch the banners, good choice.

Creativity -2; basically if it's been used or it's a popular thing(games, movie, show) it's not creative. Wouldn't you want to be remembered by your sig, not part of a mundane society?

Bad layout -2; based on how bad though, usually because the pic is way oversized, text is all over the place, things are just thrown together, not very fluid and structured. Easy to fix though.

Bad text -1; either the text doesn't go with the sig, or the colors/size/stile makes it hard to read, I don't want to try to read your sig, make me want to.

For avatars, there isn't as much as you would like to do with it, so it goes on a rating scale of -/3. It has to be memorable, original, and creative. Thats how the points go.

I honestly only use GIMP to scale images down w/o losing quality :P

Here's a request: I want a chaotic-looking sig, with Jack Sparrow on the left, with a GIF of that scene in POTC 3 where he's fighting Davy Jones, and the camera is circling, and Indiana Jones at the right, with a GIF of that part in Indy 1 where he jumps into the van and starts punching that Nazi that threw him out earlier, with Fireball2500 in the center, and then, on a small black strip at the bottom, it says "Future XBL: ChrisSpartan117." Its a bit too bright. Try lowering the contrast levels to soften the 'whites'. Or add a gradient map over it.

Hmm...the 4th and the 5th are by far the best looking ones, in my opinion. But you should try to blur the rough edges on the logo.
