First post in a long time, just thought I'd pop on randomly, I'm happy to see that I recognise some names such as horgen and kitty. Those were some good old days posting on the forums~ i was a teenager then but late 20s now, where has the time gone? ;__; hope everyone keeps safe and don't forget to wear a mask!

Same here! Still trying to pop in and and say hi! It is crazy how many years this place was super active and we would jump on one of the messengers and get group games together, shoot the breeze, or share art! It was pretty cool!

@harashawn: I do remember your username! But I was more of a lurker than a poster so we probably didn't interact. It really did, it's not the same anymore. But they were good times and life was different then. Dunno what made me check this out again, bit of nostalgia I suppose!

@PiscesChick93: I've been alright. I'm in Canada so it's not as bad here as in the US. But there was a period of about 3 months when everything pretty much shut down and nobody was supposed to visit anyone, and since I live alone it was horrible lol. How about you?

@harashawn: Oh damn, that does suck a lot :( I'm in the UK and I was off work for almost four months. Back now, work in retail, i guess life goes on but I always wear a mask going out now. I like to joke about how I save money on make up by wearing one. :D

@PiscesChick93: Glad you're back to work. Ah yeah my city passed a bylaw that makes masks mandatory at least until the end of the year. I hate wearing them but I do get why it's important. Girls around here got really good at doing their eye makeup this year though haha.

@harashawn: thank you :) I was lucky that I did get paid whilst I was off. Here in England they are doing a furlough scheme, so those off work get their wages paid for by the government, but just 80 percent of it. The scheme ends next month but just glad to be back now. Yeah same here actually, and as I work in retail it is the law to wear a mask unless you are exempt.

Lol that's true but sadly eye makeup has always been one of my weak points!

@PiscesChick93: Well that's good. Our government gave everyone who got laid off the same lump sum per month.

@harashawn: that's ace! The new rules for us were actually put in place again just a few days ago. Honestly I don't really watch the news anymore but I did watch the Prime Minister's speech and it's estimated these rules he has set in place will be for about 6 months, oh yeah forgot to say that includes restaurants and pubs closing at 10pm.

It's been over 10 years, but somehow I remembered the password to this account, and found it unbanned, to my surprise. I spent a good chunk of my teenage years on these forums. Reading some of my old posts has been a cringeful joy.

I don't remember what caused me to create the 'suicide' thread that got me banned all those years ago...but I know I had started spending more time on 4chan and reddit around that time. I stopped using 4chan completey a few years back, and reddit quickly became an addicting waste of time with little no valuable communication outside of some niche subreddits, so I've cut down on it quite a bit.

The internet has changed a lot in the past decade. I do miss the simplicity and feeling of community that comes from forums like this one (at least that's how I remember it).

Yeah, some years back, GS unbanned several users, due to a change in the ToU, which proved polarizing among the community. This change has since largely been reverted though.

In any case, welcome back. Yeah, I browse Reddit a lot, but I'm a lurker there more than anything. It's a shame forums in general aren't what they once were.

Like me.=p Hey, where on earth did you get an RTX 3080? I've never seen them in stock close to their MSRP, like ever, and you have a 12 core 24 thread cpu too? My god what a PC! I have switched to AMD Ryzen for the new PC I built last year as well.

Also it's rough to get a new gpu this time, so overpriced everywhere you go even for old gpus like the GTX 10 series let alone the RTX 20 series and RTX 30 series. It's a shame as I don't want a PS5 or XSX right now, just a new gpu instead to upgrade from this GTX 1070.

I got 3080 to 9300 here which roughly equals 930$, cheapest was 7999 or roughly 800$ but impossible to get. I had to wait weeks for mine to arrive, but yeah I could order 15 minutes after sales opened up. Took them another 45 minutes to registrate it since the systems the shop used failed during this time.

Yeah I got the 3900X from AMD when it was released. Huge upgrade from 6600K. Granted the 6600K was running higher clock speed due to overclocking. I haven't bothered with OC on the 3900X.

Atm I am upgrading my second hand PC that is mostly used by my parents, and serves as folding at home machine as well.
