1. All political office-holding Republicans/Tea Party Members should immediately give up their taxpayer funded healthcare.

2. The Republican and Tea Party, um... parties, must dissolve themselves.

This way, they will have credibility when demanding American's get Health Insurance on their own and demanding Unions be outlawed.

Otheriwse, they are hypocrites. Because they ARE Unions and they ARE recieving free Healthcare paid for by taxes.

That's all really. They do those two things and I'll start listening. Otherwise, they're a sad joke.

If congressmen were forced into the private health market we would already have universal health care. It would be hilarious seeing 3/4 of them denied any insurance coverage, which can bankrupt even moderately wealthy people if they have a serious condition.

Yea, comparing unions to parties is a joke. Although I do think parties should dissolve all around, but that is just my opinion.

As for the taxpayer funded healthcare for the office-holders. Did you really make that assumption? They are given Healthcare by the government, but they still have to pay for it with their money. Taxes pay their salaries, and even that is taxed. For it to be even.

Basically, they are not hypocrites, because everything you said is completely wrong.

Unions are the real jokes, unions are slowly but surely bring the United States republic to the ground.

halo1399

You're aware that union membership is only a tiny fraction of what it used to be, right?

Here is a Bureau of Labor Statistics report from 2007. Unions made up 12.1% of all workers.

i'm still confused by the name "tea party". when they say "party" are they meaning it literally as a political party like the democratic/republican parties or is it meant to hint at things like the boston tea party where the "party" was just a gathering of people, not a political party. if it is the latter than what does the "tea" mean? i've head it referred to as an acronym for "taxed enough already" but that would only really work if the party was meant to refer to the former. so it would be the "taxed enough already party" and any similarity to the boston tea ( actual tea, not an acronym ) party ( event, not political party ) would merely be a coincidence but not meant to be taken that way... it's like calling your political party the "birthday party" but expecting people to get that you're talking about a political organization and not a social event. naming fail.. :?

Wouldn't it make more sense for Democrats to give up their Healthchare to show how wonderful Obamacare is? At least from a "I'm not a hypocrite" standpoint?

Why? Democrats aren't trying to steal anyone's Healthcare - Republicans/Tea Party are.

Democrats would rather give all Americans the same Healthcare they get.

Republicans/Tea Party are the greedy ones that want it all for themselves. They are the ones who must set the example before they can start dictating who is allowed to have Healthcare and who isn't.

Just a few things:
Nearly all full-timesalariedemployees get healthcare whether in the public or private sector, it's part of their compensation; if a person gets paid 45k/yr and 5k/yr in health care benefits, they're actually being paid 50k/yr, there is no such thing as "free" healthcare no matter who your employer is. They just pay you less so they can use that money to pay for healthcare.
I also don't believe you understand what a "union" is. A "union" is a group of working who have collective bargaining rights in negotiating salaries and benefits. Wisconsin is in a lot of trouble right now because state employees have "union" demanding to keep benefits at a level that the state can no longer afford to pay; you can thank the democratic party for that.

Get out of here with your damnable logic and reasoning. Don't you understand the purpose of this thread (and about a 100 a week like it) is so the kiddies on gamespot can show how hip and cool they are by bashing the repubs and the tea party?

OUT, I say. Get out now.

Beat me to it. Yeah, they'd appear a lot less hypocritical if they'd get rid of their own publicly funded socialist healthcare (rather than demanding it), but really, they're so full of s*** that for them to glean credibility would be to end the Republican Party altogether.

I just don't understand how so many Republicans can be so "constitutional" yet still oppose unions and healthcare, have they read the freaking FIRST SENTENCE of the U.S. Constitution?

It's almost as if a lot of them just read the second amendment and threw everything else out.

IF this weren't the case why are people like Bachman and Palin the heads? Who they themselves do not even basic knowledge of US history.. And yet people affiliate themselves with that?.. These are people chosen by popularity within the Tea Party... So for the supposedly "informed" Tea Party.. Why are they affiliating themselves with the party? Why havn't they broke off and founded a different group?

No, we just know the Founding Fathers didn't mean labor unions when they wrote "a more perfect Union" and they didn't mean making someone else pay for your healtcare when they wrote "general welfare".

A question: why do you guys get so massively caught up on what a room full of old men wrote hundreds of years ago? Why should anyone alive today give even half a care about what they allegedly did or did not mean when they wrote something down with a god-damned quill on a piece of parchment? :P Pragmatism ftw.

Just interjecting here. The first fellow ain't one of us yanks; he is not like us. Nevertheless, he brought up the issue of constitutionality and consequently old dead people. Given that the basis of U.S. Federal law derives from the constitution, it is rather inevitable that what they wrote is of consequence when referring to said matters. (as the entire legal framework is based around what these men wrote, and many of said provisions are highly interdependent) Simply discarding what was written in exchange for an alternative interpretation kind of makes the law itself rather inconcrete. (as it becomes essentially subjective) Thiswould cause a far greater amount of legal clusterf***s than the number that currently exist. If what these dead men wrote is problematic in a modern setting, thenthere are legal provisions to change the law. (granted, that can be a rather lengthy and difficult process)

+1 on pragmatism though.

How does a party with a lack of credibility pick up 6 Senate seats, 63 House seats, 7 Governors, and more than 700 seats in state legislatures?

For the same reason Marion Barry was re-elected after getting caught smoking crack with a prostitute. Dumb people vote.

I love how people who don't vote the exactly as you would are "dumb"

Not really. There are plenty of Republican candidates that I wouldn't criticize people for voting for. The Tea Party candidates don't fall under that umbrella though, and of course people who voted for Marion Barry also fall into the "dumb" category.

why not ask for democrats against school vouchers to take their kids out of private school as an example. or demand kerry, dole, pelosi, albright, graham, levin, byrd, waxman and all the other dems complaining along with the republicans about wmd in iraq to stop putting blame on one person for something they supported.

obviously there is no hypocrisy in the democratic party.they each spread their own wealth to the less fortunate on a daily basis.i think the only way to have any credible party is to turn off the jewish money printer.

I've not heard one person defend the Republicans rights to taxpayer funded Healthcare while they work to kill universal healthcare for all Americans.

Why don't the conservatives demand their own leaders set this example? Afraid to point out the hypocrisy of their own party line?

I am fairly certain Congress' health benefits are paid out of their pocket, deducted from every paycheck should they choose to participate in the health care plan available to them (as well as retirement plans). I know this is hard to understand, especially those who have not entered the "real world" yet, but most people with health care plans also pay for it, pre-tax, from their paychecks, just like those evil Republican congressmen.

You give me a perfect chance to link everyone to what kind of health care Congress gets and someone asked about earlier. Health Care for U.S. Congress, Politicians Receive the Country's Best Care - at Taxpayers' Expense details everything.

As was said earlier, Congress should drop the taxpayer subsidized health care they get now and enter plans per their new health care law otherwise known as Obamacare.

Depending on where you look, the Tea Party was started based on the Boston Tea Party and is considered conservative and libertarian but is not a political party. The Tea Party Patriots are a nonpartisan grassroots organization that areunited by core values derived from the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States of America, the Bill Of Rights as explained in the Federalist Papers.

If I had life savings, I would bet it on the negative in regards to the question of whether or not anyone in the Tea Party has ever actually read the Federalist Papers.
