http://www.cpusa.org/ "A better world is possible - a world where people come before profits. That's socialism. That's our vision. We are the Communist Party USA." I thought socialism =/= Communism? :?

True communism is an inherent contradiction, and corrupted communism leads to violence. If Red Party membership is rising, then education is dying.

How does a group of socialists existing mean they are growing? There have always been socialists/communists in the US.

Frankly, I agree with the overarching philosophies of communism. But I do not necessarily support an overbearing government that is usually associated with communism. If communism was successful without such a government, I'd be totally for it

Either this means more people are becoming aware of political ideals often considered to be taboo (a good thing) or people are becoming even more stupid (a bad thing). Perhaps both (?).

You're right. Communism is definitely a sign of declining education. Not the fact we have a good portion of the country that still doesn't believe in evolution, believes the world is only 6,000 years old, and 9/11 happened because people in the Middle-East "hate our freedom". No, that's a sign of extraordinary intelligence

I hope this is sarcasm

I must admit, when I saw "cpusa", my first thought was not cp = communist party. I've been hanging out at that other place for too long.

Well, those particular people in the Middle East DO hate our freedom; our society contradicts their more restrictive belief systems.

If it means that more people actually know what socialism is and are making an informed decision, either for or against, instead of just throwing the term around without understanding what it means, then I think that is a good thing. Too many politicians and citizens, especially lately, seem to have forgotten all about Senator Joe McCarthy. Sometimes the fear of something is worse than the thing being feared.

"An open mind is like a fortress with it's gates unbarred and unguarded." - Some dude from Dawn of War. :P If you think about it all children entertainment have been teaching communist ideas. "Eat food you parents give you because if you have good parents that let you watch this show we're pretty sure it will be healthy." "Don't hog your fragile troys, share them with your little brothers." "Don't fight back against a bully, just tell a teacher and pray they help you." :P

You really believe that? First off, Bin Laden went on record stating his reasons for the terrorists attacks. If he was such a die-hard fanatic, why would he lie and espouse a false reasoning for what he did? Second off, if they merely hated freedom, then why attack America? America is far from an "atheist" country. In fact, why not attack Norway, Sweden, Iceland, or Finland? They have far more "freedom" than we possess. 9/11 was a result of America's policies and interactions in the Middle-East. It's because of their continuous interference and massive support of Israel. In case you didn't know, the U.S government (Reagan admin takes most of the responsibility) formed the mujahedin and supplied weapons to many of the same people they are fighting today. So don't even try pulling "They hate our freedom!11!" card, it's so old.

I've read there was because in their bible their god, Islam, will come back to earth if there is total chaos on earth. So a new generation of ignorant Muslims think if they can start World War 3 then Islam will come to earth and kill all the heretics. But why attack us? I mean, Europe is closer... >.>

Too bad Communism can never ever work. If it could, well, it would darn well be the best government in the world, but sadly corrupt leaders prevent it from happening.

Communism will never work because it assumes everyone is a good person at heart and will sacrifice themselves for the better at others. But when people watch videos of a group of teenagers accidentally breaking a little kid's nose and find it funny, yeah... Capitalism works to a certain extent because it assumes people are greedy and thrives on it, businesses get no restrictions (other than moral ones) so they can advance as far as they can and society as a whole can progress. You can't tell people how they should act, what they should be, and how they should live.

There is also a Nazi Party in the United States. Anyone who thinks this group will get any real traction is naive.

Yea, just look at our policies in the Middle East. If you truly believe its because "they hate our freedom" you are falling for the oldest propaganda trick in the book.

...none of that relates to anything I just said. Here, I'll repeat it for you:

True communism is an inherent contradiction, and corrupted communism leads to violence. The fact that red party membership is rising means that education is dying.

Did I anywhere in that statement claim or even insinuate that other things are not also indicators of poor education? No, I did not. Did I anywhere in that statement imply or even insinuate that anything you listed is "a sign of extraordinary intelligence"? No, I did not. Did you bring up a bunch of issues that are utterly irrelevant to the fact that communism doesn't work, and then accuse me of promoting their continuation without any grounds whatsoever to do so? Yes, you did.

Get control of yourself, grow up a little bit, and then maybe you can come back and try to argue with me.

No, but it's ludicrous and downright idiotic to believe that this is a sign of dying education when their are so many worse indicators. That fact that you pointed it out is nothing but you flaunting of your bias. You believe communism will never work, so anyone thinking likewise is uneducated? What an asshat comment, and you tell me to grow up? I'm willing to guarantee there are many communists who you are far more educated than you (or you will ever be if you're still a high-schooler)

When you said "likewise," I assume you meant "otherwise"?

You can guarantee that if you want, but I doubt it. I'm no longer in high school. In fact I'm 28 years old, and my academic education (objectively speaking) is beyond that of our current president. If you'd like, I can list it all for you.

I addressed communism because the thread was about communism. It wasn't about evolution, creationism, or the conflict in the Middle East. Also, it's not idiotic to believe that any specific thing is a sign of dying education, even if there might be others that are more severe. It's still a sign of dying education. Lastly, I'm not stating my personal opinion; i'm going off of the historical fact that no state has ever succeeded in trying to implement communism (notwithstanding tribal communities and other minuscule examples, which are irrelevant). Up to this point in time, communism doesn't work. It also doesn't work anytime in the foreseeable future, as real communism requires the total lack of any and all states and governments. Accordingly, I don't see any problem with the claim I made, or rather the fact that I stated. Do you have some sort of empirical or historical evidence to prove me wrong? I don't think you do.

It's not that hard really. Obama holds a high school diploma, one Bachelor of Arts (BA), and one Juris Doctorate (JD or law degree).

I have a high school diploma, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, a Master's in Business Administration (MBA), a Juris Doctorate, and a Master of Laws (LLM), which is a step above the Juris Doctorate.

On paper, my education extends further than that of Barack Obama.

Why are these people still around? And why are they GROWING?! No offense to anyone who actually believe in communism, but there is already a nice big communist country, to of them actually. Please go join one of them and leave us out of it. :|

O I'm sorry let me pack my bags learn Chinese, Spanish, or Vietnamese on a plane trip the three countries to please your point of view!

... and staying here, going into office, and writing laws to edge our country towards your views is just fine?

I would have to get voted in to have the power to do that which means the people want socialism or Communism. I would prefer socialism more though.

Wonderful news! Soon very soon *Evil laugh*

I'm just going make violent videos games that teach people to hate communism. Your reign will only last 15 years tops. And then capitalism will rise again!

Then I will make gory violent video game to teach people to hate capitalism then! Capitalism will last 10 years!

Then I will make a shiny happy game that will make people love neocolonialism whilst also hating capitalism! Confusion will be eternal!

True communism is an inherent contradiction, and corrupted communism leads to violence. If Red Party membership is rising, then education is dying.

Elephant_Couple
I'm not for any form of communism that can possibly support an organized party like this, but how is true communism an inherent contradiction? The only thing that prevents true communism is people's unwillingness to let go of power over others.

On paper communism is great.

Only the super rich fear communism. Becuase they would have all their wealth divided up amongst the masses.

But still the leaders have too much power and power corrupts.

You just solved your own question. ;) What are you going do, teach everyone to care for everyone else? You can't control free will.
