been watching stuff like this on the news. It's looking pretty scary. Whatever happens though when this stops (news says in about two days) they gotta find a way to move a lot of water incredibly fast to keep it from freezing over.

Insane storm, got a friend who's stuck in pretty much the path of the storm the entire time. She's pretty scared and for reasons I can't understand she's expected to go to work tomorrow. During a Hurricane rolling over the area? Stay smart and don't take needless risks. We're watching and hoping things go over with no more loss of life here in Norway.

Honestly, this isn't even that bad. I went outside and walked a few block for some chinese food, and the wind was at most, annoying.

Why was everyone hyping up a category 1 hurricane to be the most catastrophic event in history?

MacBoomStick

Only in the USA do they hype up a CATEGORY 1 HURRICANE.

Many people evacuated, I am praying for the safety of them, their homes, and the people that chose to stay.

People call me crazy, but I think this stuff is do to our harming of the environment. If we don't accept this and change, all costal cities and towns will be underwater in the next 100 years.

If you look at the ridiculously low pressure reading it's not really a category one hurricane. It looks more like a category 4 hurricane in terms of strength, but the winds never were brought down to the surface.

If you had been paying attention to the news, then you'd know why it was supposedly hyped (Hint: The northeastern region of the US is not normally prone to hurricane weather). Besides, almost all of the media coverage that I've seen has been that of providing caution and advice to those in the storm's path. Would it have been a "smart" move for the media to provide little to no advice to those who are not used to dealing with such extreme weather, and who the hell claimed it to be the most catastrophic event in history?

Now, we deal with not seeing the sun (here in NY) until Saturday because of that blocking pattern which will keep the remains of Sandy in the area and us under clouds and rain. This sucks.

Well, we might catch glimpses of the sun if it's not overcast.

Well Sandy is affecting my workplace. Company's main system servers are in New Jersey and they've lost power. Everything is running on backup generators and its super slow.

2 days off and I didn't even lose power. Not bad. Though I hear the death toll was at 16, so not everybody was as lucky.

Pretty much the exact opposite of what I said? But it's cool I realize reading comprehension is hard for some. Read with me, "South Florida gets a break" which implies I'm happy we DON'T have this crazy weather at the moment.

I'm watching the storm coverage on CNN. Massive damage and flooding. 80 homes burned down in a fire. This certainly changes my viewpoint that hurricanes don't hit the East Coast.
