I know everyone will have their opinions, but Ive tried to compile a list that hits 4 of some of the best. List if other.

Technically, of this decade still, but I like to say that that decade is over and we have entered a new one. Anyways, The Dark Knight, in my opinion.Of last decade? Tthe LORTs (the two that were in the decade).

There is entirely too many to point out... The vast majority of those not being on the poll.sSubZerOoWhich is what the 'Other' option is for.

I'm not going to argue about this here and now, or any time or place really, because honestly, I don't know much about it. All I know is that on New Year's Eve, there was a huge debate thread on this, and in the end, it was determined that we are, technically, still in the past decade. But like I said, don't argue about it with me, because I don't know what I'm talkin' about. I'm just going by what happened at the end of that discussion.[QUOTE="Pirate700"]No we aren't still in the past decade. Your going to have to wait for Filmguy on this then, because he is the only one to have the patience in creating the list of dozens of movies that most likely will be put in that list.
For me personally, probably Pans Labyrinth... I love that movie. raven_squadIt was excellent. I wish I was more fluent in Spanish so I could really understand it without subtitles. Sorry again everyone, if there was a poll with 25 options I would have used it. We have to make due with 5. As for the whole decade issue, whatever, everyone knows what I meant, I put the dates next to the movie titles.
Those would probably be my top6 favorites of the decade at the moment.
I wanted to put Eternal Sunshine up there, but I wasn't sure how much recognition it would get. All good movies you have up there though. All top 100 all time for me.
- Lost In Translation
- Amelie
- Bright Star
- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
- The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Those would probably be my top 5 favorites of the decade at the moment.

But I can understand the choices for the polls because they are some of the more popular of the decade. Those would probably be my top 5 favorites of the decade at the moment.

I probably choose a different favorite movie of the decade every week or so, but today, I'll go with Kill Bill (Volumes 1 and 2).
Kill Bill is to me probably the greatest and most complete cinematic work of the decade. I think people who criticized this movie missed the entire point. Its not trying to be more than pure entertainment, in that sense it delivers completely more than any movie in the decade. And yet it goes beyond even what it tries to be. Its an incredible cinematic achievement in every sense. Its Tarantino at his best. He combines action and humor in an almost uncanny way. Its dialogue (like any Tarantino movie) is top-notch. The fight sequences are some of the best in and most brilliant in film history. Of course its incredibly exaggerated and stupid, its a B-movie. A B-movie made to complete perfection.
Some of my other picks are Lost in Translation, The Departed, Amores Perros, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Pan's Laberynth, Zodiac, Crash, Adaptation, City of God and Memento.
Great list film-guy, glad you finally saw Werkmeister Harmonies. :) I just picked up You the Living from the library. I am planning on watching it this weekend with Bright Star.Jazz_Fan
Bright star seems to be one of the most overlooked films of 2009. Abbie Cornish, and Ben Whishaw are great and the cinematography is beautiful. Have you seen any of Jane Campion's films before?
Expect 'other' to get 90% of hte votes, there are so many movies to choose from. My personal favourites are Battle Royale, Infernal Affairs, Inglourious Basterds and a few others already mentioned in other posts. While I don't believe there is one definitive movie of the decade that everyone will agree on by my movie of the decade would have to be ONG BAK.
It restored my love of the action/martial arts genre. Trully he best hand-to-hand action flick this decade in my opinion, no tricks, no wire-work and no CGI.
Nice list Film Guy. Looks like I have a couple movies I need to rent. Im super excited for Dead Mans Shoes after looking it up, Id never even heard of it before.
I agree with this post and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.I probably choose a different favorite movie of the decade every week or so, but today, I'll go with Kill Bill (Volumes 1 and 2).

Most overrated film of the decade? Memento! Followed by Donnie Darko! With Let the Right One In coming in at a very respectable third.WolfattheDoor34
I haven't seen Let the Right One In yet but I have seen Memento and Donnie Darko. I can definitely say Donnie Darko is a bit overrated but Memento is absolutely not overrated. The acting is great, the storyline is intriguing, the characters are engaging and the storytelling is bizarrely staged. One of the best movies ever? No, I don't think so (although it's a great, great movie), but overrated? Come on. Avatar was released in '09 you know... If you actually loved that and didn't find it even in the least overrated then your opinion is null. I'm really not close minded though. I didn't really hate Avatar at all but saying that it's anything more than "just okay" is insane. Cinematic masterpiece? More like an average summer blockbuster, something that is quite rare these days, because most summer blockbusters are horrible.
