I heard that the movie "Hostile" is pretty disturbing. Why is that? I've never seen the movie so I'm curious.

Ah yes i think the fact that the animal killing was real and then you saw the turtle, his head cut off and legs and organs beating not nice. People even thought the actors died but they didn't

I suppose a lot of it has to do with personal outlooks as what might generally disturb one person may just seem boring to another. The most extreme movie I can think of is Philosophy of a Knife (2008 ) although probably the most recent disturbing and uncomfortable film that I've seen is Salo - 120 Days of Sodom.

Any horror film except Christine and Jaws is disturbing to me. I hate horror films, they are cringe worthy.

Cactus_Matt

oh man, that film scarred me!

The most distrubing film I've ever seen is probably Scum. I haven't seen it in a while but when I first saw it all those years ago it left me traumatised.

PS: Cactus_Matt, David Lynch owns :D

That movie's only really disturbing because of the great effort it takes to bore you out of your skull before it bombards you with the violence :P. You just aren't ready for it when it happens.

i actually looked up salo after IGN's top 15 disturbing movies, i also looked up el topo a spagetti western very weird. I think salo might of been better and disturbing if i didn't search it up on youtube and watched a funny reaction video to it when they eat waste. I didn't find audition that bad it was only the last half hour it gets anyway engaging. even so each to there own

I'll let you know when the human creative process starts to surprise me.. but honestly.. we're all so predictable there is nothing we can do that I'd possibly find disturbing.

The banned movie...Yes it was banned because of the autopsy scenes which were real. Faces of Death anyone? One movie with some very real death scenes plenty of but and REAL gore. Nothing like seeing a guy get cut to pieces during autopsies!
http://www.facesofdeath.com/ You to go there to buy it because most video stores are prohibited to carry it in stock. Pretty crazy movie...

not all of it was real though, like the execution scene in prison, and when that woman fell off the window they changed it somewhat her falling is real but the close up and emergency services was fake. even so i can see why its so controversial.

Yeah I know. But all the cows being skinned and butchered were real. As well as the autopsy scenes.
