You assured me Indian food was good! YOU LIED! I finally tried it last night and I still can't get the smell off of me. There were so many spices on my food it felt like somebody just emptied the entire spice cabinet out on my dish. I had the lamb chop kabab because I thought lamb would be safe, oh no. The best part of the night was when I got the check and rushed everyone out the door. The naan was okay, though. Other things on the menu may have been okay, but after the overload of spices I don't think my taste buds could handle anything that was mildly spiced.

Anybody else think Indian cuisine is bleh?

Might have just been a crappy restaurant. I don't have much experience with it so I wouldn't know.

As if you could actually taste Indian food. I like being able to taste what I'm eating. I only like cumin in my chili. And I don't want the entire jar of it, either.

I live in bangladesh. Our cuisine is pretty much close to that of the indians.

Must have been a shitty restaurant. Most proper Indian dishes have a proper balance of spices to other elements of the food.

Sounds like that resturant isn't a very good one, Or you just don't like spices on the food.
Atleast you can say you've tried indian food now.

Sounds like an unlucky visit to a resturent? I've had Indian quite a few times, and some resturents really are horrible -.-

Leads to the question which of those indian resturents makes the more currect indian foods I suppose :\

Indian food is not bad but it depends on where you go and where you live. In Atlanta, there's this place I went to take me and my baby mama to an Indian Restaurant called, Himalayas Indian and we love it.

By the way, indzman is on vacation for this Month so he won't be active again until March.

Indian food is probably my least favorite cousin I've ever tried. I don't think it's horrible, but out of all foods from around the world I've tried it's def last on my list.

It's great the UK has such a large Indian population. In a nationwide poll it was shown that British people loved Indian curry over and above loved British meals (e.g. fish and chips).

So to spicy? will say I find it harder to respect someone who can't eat spicy food. I understand some just can't eat spicy food as it runs right through them, but to others tolerance can be built. When that happens it opens up doors to literally 1000's of different cuisines with amazing flavors. Takes a bit to build a tolerance, but hell is it worth it.

No, not too spicy as in hot. Too spicy as in they used too many spices to flavor the food. It overpowered everything. The blander things I tried, like the chicken, were ruined because my taste buds couldn't cope. So everything, if it wasn't hot spicy, was just bland. The best part of the meal was the damn naan.

Garlic naan is perhaps what I like best about Indian food. Have tried a few different places the last few years. The one I like best is the one serving the least spicy food. Well hot I mean.

I think it depends what you have. Some dishes are way to spicy, others might be a little sickly - but I've had some decent too.

It was spelled Kabab on the menu. Either way, it wasn't very good.

The last Indian restaurant I went to was in Japan. The chef and owner was from India. The food was superb even though it was a lunch buffet.

My wife is fond of Indian food as well. She makes a mean chicken curry and curry noodles.

That should through up big red flags for you, they cant even spell the dish properly, what makes you think they can cook it?

Also, to anyone else reading, don't go to an Indian restaurant and order a non-Indian sounding dish, IT WILL BE CRAP.

Its like the equivalent of going to India and eating at Texan style restaurant with "Traditional Stake Texan style" written on the menu.

I generally like it, though I did eat one curry that melted the inside of my body away, making it extremely hard to really enjoy any type of food anymore.

should try the butter chicken or chicken tikka masala, and some Indian chai to drink

anyhoo, some Indian restaurants just plain suck, that might also be a factor, I'd generally say Indian food is pretty darn good if done right

stay away from Indian lunch buffets though, even at a good restaurant the lunch buffets are a food poisoning lottery ticket, keep Indian food a dinner thing

As someone from the UK the concept of someone not enjoying Indian food is very alien to me. Indian curry is the national dish of the UK.

You're not understanding. It wasn't a kebab in the traditional sense. It was called a kabab and it was served in three little pieces with a bone in each piece.

This is what it was like only it didn't look as good. It was over-spiced and dry.

@airshocker: You probably won't understand so screw it. Btw, you can try better restaurants or probably better dishes. I know spices are a lot more rampant in Indian dishes than in any other cuisine but you can always opt for restaurants/cooks who add less spices in their food. In my house, almost everyone is spice-intolerant apart from my brother. So we use less spices and mostly we just use Black Pepper. Even with less spices, the dishes are still fabulous. I've tried many other cuisines like Thai, German, Chinese and a few others that I can't even recall but nothing beats the Indian cuisine. It's the best. Literally.

When you're purposefully ambiguous of course I won't understand you.

I've eaten many different types of food, so I think the issue here is that you like one thing, and I like another, yet you decided to be a dick about it. Am I wrong?
