Recently I've been thinking about how I should be growing up the 90's. Half of the music I listen to are bands from the 90's like Nirvana and Weezer. It would be great to go to high school and talk about things like blink 182, michael jordan, dragon ball z, or mario. I love how the 90's were like a simple version of todays world. Cell phones were just getting popular, every kid had a gameboy, nintendo 64, movies like home alone, forrest gump, and titanic were just coming out, pokemon was cool, cartoons were way better. These are just things I've heard from people and seen on malcolm in the middle and if it's true then I love the 90's.

I feel like I don't fit into this decade. I dont listen to Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, or Justin Bieber. Autotuning is way overused now and is merging talent with brainless idiots. I dont care about the iPad, facebook, twitter, or those damn annoying oversized nerd glasses. Hardly anyone at my school listens to rock anymore just hip hop and rap.

Everything seemed so much..better in the 90's.:|

sigh..if only my parents met sooner :P

Do you think the 90's were a great time to grow up?

Brittney Spears before now, Christina aguilera, N'sync, Backstreet Boys,The Moffats. So many more boy bands and bubblegum pop girls. Also as wolls said, the fashion was terrible, it was like everyone was too lazy to dress nice.

I appreciated the early 90's grunge-esq fashion for long hair and checked flannel shirts on boys. That wasn't so bad fashion-wise.

Boybands though, good God the boybands! *shudders*

All 10 huh? Me too! Seriously though, I wish I grew up in the 70s, so I could have gone to school for cheap, and invest in Apple and Google by the time I was in my mid 20s ear... Hot Tub Time Machine Style

Yeah growing up in the 90's was definitely amazing.

Great music all over the radio. In fact, I got into Nirvana at the age of 2 or 3 as Nevermind came out while I was a toddler and I used to watch MTV all the time.

Then you had the absolutely amazing 90's Nickelodeon which just had sooo many classic shows like Rocko's Modern Life and Are You Afraid of the Dark.

Got to witness alot of the evolution of gaming and got to experience the best consoles (PS1, Genesis, N64) during their hayday.

I heart being a 90's kid!

You are right, I don't want to have kids in this era and it is only getting worse. I graduated in 99 and there was no Facebook, Youtube, iPad, music with standardized electric voices, no weebos, no anime, no wii/motion controls, no Steam/aggresive DRM/DLC, and driving a 70 Chevelle SS to school was still considered cool- there was only a small group of idiots that thought honda civics were super cars. Boys bands were a small price to pay and heaven compared to what is out there now. Not sure what was so bad about the clothes, better than tight jeans. I'm glad I grew up when I did.

I didn't really care about how people dressed in the 90's >.> Hell, I don't care how people dress now. As for the boy bands. N'Sync and The Backstreet Boys were good. That is all.

I was a 90s kid and I loved that decade. Awesome cartoons, vibes, gaming revolution (back when games had alot more soul), movies etc. I often reflect on those years and wish I could go back :)

Mmm-bop, the '90s were amazing!

Oasis and Radiohead are the saviors of that godforsaken bundle of garbage that was '90s music.

Ripped baggy jeans... so disgusting.

The cartoons were nice, though.

I was born in the first half of 1991, so I guess I spent most of my childhood in the 90's...I sure did love those years, probably because I was, well, a kid. I just consider myself fortunate for getting to watch all of those awesome 90's Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon cartoons, and connecting to the internet in its golden years. But hey, at least I'm past the 2000's decade now...hopefully the 2010's will be better.

Gaming was BEYOND solid in the 90's.

97 and 98 are arguably the best years in gaming history.

I liked it, had less crime here until they took away the death penalty.. now it's spiralling out of control. Console gaming was alot better, and PC gaming was even more awesome, technology was just coming around as well. Plus it was fun seeing the evolution of cell phones, personal computers and technology in general.

It was okay. I only liked some of the cartoons. I didn't really like pop music back then for the most part except a select few. Was totally into R&B back then. Now, the 80s is a different story...

You can still watch the cartoons, you can still listen to the music that came out then, and you can still play the video games. I don't see why you'd want to give up everything we have seen in the last 12 years just so you can be around when these things came out.

It's not about giving up anything, but how great it was to see all that stuff come out. It was all fresh and new and it was incredible watching everything evolve.

We had the HUGE change in music. With Nirvana came the wonderful and much needed switch to grunge from the stale 80's pop music AKA hair metal and overdone new-wave.

There was a golden age in cartoons, mainly on Nickelodeon. Never has a channel been that consistently great IMO. Soo many classic cartoons and on top of that, the live-action shows Nick had on back then were actually GREAT as well. Stuff like Salute Your Shorts, Pete and Pete, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and All That were fantastic.

I think the biggest thing though was the HUGE evolution gaming made during the decade. We went from the classic 16 bit games to 3D gaming which brought an absolute SLEW of innovation from the industry. As I mentioned, 97 and 98 alone were probably the two best years in gaming history.

So many classic franchises put out classic installments in those two years:

Final Fantasy 7

Metal Gear Solid

Resident Evil 2

Goldeneye 007

Crash Bandicoot 2

Tomb Raider 2

Tekken 3

Gran Tourismo 1

POKEMON RED AND BLUE

Half-Life

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

and MORE!

Think about it, you basically have the entire life-cycles of the PS1 and N64 in the 90's and those were two incredible consoles.

I think 1992 and 1993 are the most important in the 90's because id Software basically made the FPS genre, but 97 and 98 are important as well.

I very much doubt that the topics of discussion back then were Blink 182, Mario and Dragonball Z - you might be forgetting the tons of other gadget crap that came and went in the 90's. I can't really say so though, I was still in grade school by the time the 90's ended.
