Just 1, and I haven't used it yet as I just got it. I'm just trying to build credit so I can get a Delta skymiles credit card so I can finally earn some free flights!

It is hard to get your car fixed if you don't have a CC.

Well, you could always fix the car yourself. It's actually rather easy and cheap!

Yes you should. The sooner the better because part of your credit score depends on how old your first card is and the average age of your cards. Just do some research on what cards are good for you.

Not to brag, but I make enough money to pay for any needed car repairs with cash.

How many mechanics will do work without you first giving them your CC?

Just one at the moment. I had another but I canceled it because the credit limit was too low and Capital One refused to increase it even once after almost 3 years.

Have you looked into getting a secured credit card? I would recommend you do that, you'll be glad you did once you're older and want to buy a car/house etc.

How could one aquire 11 or more credit cards? Debit cards (American ones) not counting, I don't get it. Although we do have Visa debit in Canada now, even though its at one bank only.

No, I haven't. would a bank offer such a thing, or would I have to look elsewhere?

I think captial one offers them. Is your credit rating bad because you made it bad or because of your income?

My income is fairly low at this point of time. No, I am not saying how low.

Get one, buy a chocolate bar or something cheap with it, pay it off right away. Then you'll have credit rating. It's a fantastic system.

Doesnt matter how low, but is your credit rating legitimately bad? Are you a student? If so, did you apply for a student credit card? Oh, and another question, did the credit card company not give a reason why you were rejected?

This is just ignorant. Just about any mechanic out there will work on your car without a credit card. After the work is done and you don't pay the bill then you just don't get your car back until you've paid it.

I feel the opposite about that. I don't have a job to support the actual need of a credit card plus there's other ways to build credit. I don't want to be one of those people who end up in serious debt later on in life all thanks to a plastic card.

I know that since the other half of my adult life will depend on it, but while I'm still in school, I'll pass on it. No need for an extra bill.

Why not just use the credit card as if it were cash? Thats what I do, and I only gain from doing so. Use it as a simple charge card to be paid off in full at the end of the month, so you can accumilate a better credit score slowly, but surely.

None. I'll likely get one in the future which I'll just buy $20 worth of something on a month and always pay back in full right away, just to build a credit. After that, their only use is for said credit or emergencies. I don't spend money I don't have.

None, all they lead to is debt and a bad credit rating. I use money I actually have. If I need to purchase online I have a Visa debit card.

I have a debit card and that's all I have or want. Credit card rules piss me off and I see no need to use one so I don't. Also, I don't see myself being 100% responsible with that kind of power. I don't travel and loans help me out of any jams I get into. I don't need a credit card.

When I actually have a decent paying job that pays me more than a living wage, we'll talk about getting a credit card.
