Over the past several years, more and more Mexicans have been moving into our neighborhood. Let me just throw this out right now and say that I'm not racist or anything. I don't mind them not speaking English. They're always friendly when I see them waving at me saying, "Hola!" Their kids get along with everyone else. They keep their yards up. The only problem is, they just have no comprehension when it comes to noise ordinances.
They drive around in their Celebrities and their pick-up trucks (this is an observation, not a stereotype, mind you) just blasting that mariachi music. They have parties and big get togethers and play that music really loud, and it really disturbs me. I work at home, and it's a pain in the ass trying to concentrate on paperwork when all I here is, "Ti amo con todos corazon!" It's especially bad when I'm outside working in the yard or in the garage where it's not dampned by the walls of my house.
I've walked up to them and asked them nicely, "Yo tengo tu musica esta poquito, por favor?" I know my Spanish is crap, but they at least seemed to understand and nod and say "Si." and turn the music down, but then after a few hours it goes right back up. I've even called the police, but it seems like it'll take numerous complaints for them to finally come out.
I don't know why I'm bothered with mariachi music. I mean, we have people that blast metal and and country, and a lot of blacks bump that crappy rap like Crank That Soulja Boy, and I just don't care, but there's something about singing in Spanish to the same damn guitar strums and trumpet blows that's just like fingernails on a chalkboard.
So please, help me out on this matter. Give some tips. Bilingual people, help me talk to them in their own language so I can really convey how ticked off I am over their music. I want my peace and quite back!
