Mine did like 2 weeks ago... Here's my story...

It was an average Thursday night. I was just chillin' in my room... browsing the Internet on my Wii, when I start hearing this freaky ass alarm go off. I'm like "What the hell is that?" It was coming from the other end of the house. I didn't do anything because I thought it was the house alarm, and that someone else would shut it off. (NOTE: I had NO clue that we even had a fire alarm, thats why I wasn't very curious. So I start smelling something funky... I got up and went to the hall, where the noise was coming from... Oh crap! I see smoke, so my sister walks up, screams, and runs to get my dad (who was outside) he runs in, opens the window, and runs the garden hose into the room, he sprayed and sprayed until the smoke was really thick. I had to run inside to get him out, or he would get smoke inhalation. He says that he thinks he put it out. By this time, there are tons of random faces around me... nosey people from the neighborhood. Great. Next, the fire trucks start pulling in. Long story short, once they leave, there are 2 holes in my roof (courtesy of a chainsaw) and a demolished living room ceiling. Here is a picture:

Everything got patched finally... Now it looks pretty good and needs a coat of paint... but DAMN! Firefighters sure do screw your house over!

Yeah, when I was like 23, I came home at around 4:30A from being all clubby to find that my apartment building had burned most of the way to the ground. The valuable lesson I learned was always have renter's insurance.

No, but my granparents' house did. It was becasue of some household chemicals my uncle and my mom mixed together when they were kids. They set almost the entire kitchen on fire! You can still se some of the burn marks on the ceiling and wall today.

Well I'm sure a few other tenets had more valuable things and didn't have insurance either. You got a good laugh out of that, right? :)

Not really, we all were just stunned sifting through the soaked ashes of everything we owned. It's pretty hard to express how it feels having that happen

My dad set the house on fire once while trying to burn paint off with a blowtorch or something. He's a carpenter and should've known what he was doing, so he was really embarrassed when he got on the front page of the local news...and the firefighters hacked up the wall with an axe, too. It's to make sure there's no smoldering fire where you can't see it, but it sure is a pain.

Almost. My neighbor's house was in flames and the blaze licked our house, but thankfully, nothing happened to us. Feel sorry for the other people though.

When I was little, my house had a little chimney fire. No big of a deal. A couple years ago, my grandparents house had a chimney fire... ... the house didn't make it.

Well, it started because we have, or should I say had, an OLD SCHOOL gas heater, and... its located right next to the closet (the heater is in the wall) and i'm not really sure of the details, but the heater is what caused it.
