Just less than a month after the Orlando, FL shooting that took place at a club.

"The gunshots were fired in the parking lot of Club Blu in Fort Myers at around 12:30 a.m. ET."

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/fort-myers-nightclub-shooting-1-dead-14-others-reportedly-wounded-n615961

2016 has been a pretty sad year. Florida looks cursed as well.

UPDATE:

"What started as a beach-themed teen party at a Florida nightclub ended early Monday in a shooting, with a 14-year-old and an 18-year old killed and more than a dozen others injured."

2016, the year of mass murders... What a fucked-up year it's been.

This is the kind of thing that gives midnight bikini parties for 13 year old girls a bad name. Puffy tits matter.

It was a no ID required event. It's quite common for clubs to stop serving alcohol on a certain day to allow under 18's in.

So sad to see these types of things continue to happen so often. My heart goes out to all those involved.

All the doom and gloom, better start wearing black eyeliners and cutting myself.

Seriously though, I bet statistically speaking 2016 isn't worse than any other years from before, especially in the US. We are recovering economically albeit slowly, crime rates are declining and no longer fighting not wars. Even with ISIS, the world as a whole are seeing less armed conflicts.

It isn't.. People don't realize how rare mass shootings are, and the fact we live in a country of 321 MILLION people.. I really would love to have the media and government cover the 40 to 50k that commit suicide each year, making every mass shooting combined since 1982 look trivial at best.. But mental health isn't to popular to discuss in media or government, in less it involves those tragic but incredibly rare mass shootings.

Another one already???? It is getting hard to joggle between these threads. My condolences to the victim of ever increasing violent modern society.

Increasing? The United States is at a record low currently across 4 decades of statistics on violent crimes.. What we have is a hyper increase in media coverage on everything bad that happens in society magnified over anything else.

Can't blame them. I mean when was the last time we had a long thread about suicide and mental health here? Media caters to people's desire for the sensational, not real tragedies like suicides or mental illness.

A club, church, Chuck E Cheese, etc.., doesn't really hold much weight. 12 year old children out after midnight? My guess are the parents are in contention for POTY.

It was for kids....parents were arriving to pick them up.

Such a shame.

I'm starting to see why some people grow up like morons thanks to their parents. The 12 yr old kid should have been home. This party sounds like one giant cluster.

@Gaming-Planet: Omg, it is a kid club. Victim is as young as 12. Holy kookookacha.

Really sad. The ones that did not make it that night were 14 and 18. Not sure what 12 year old kids were doing there.

@magicalclick: Yes. How bout you actually look up the statistics, instead of spouting off nonsense. This isn't to say that we shouldn't be concerned, but have some God damned perspective and stop fear mongering.

THis is not a spin we can look at the violent crime statistics they are open the public. Mass shootings are most definitely a tragedy but they are so rare that they shouldn't even be brought up when it comes to saving lives.. We have more people a day die to things we are apathetic about than all the mass shooting victims in the US over the past three decade.

It is about the posters that want to quit and give up rather than have the guts to stand up and say not in my country.

We cannot give into fear which is why it is important that next weeks lingerie and ecstasy extravaganza for middle school girls and grown men go on as planned.
