INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Aug. 18, 2015)— FOX59 has confirmed Jared Fogle, the former Subway spokesman, is expected to plead guilty to possession of child pornography charges.

Sources say Fogle will accept a plea deal Wednesday. The U.S. Attorney’s Office will hold a press conference tomorrow afternoon to discuss the deal and charges against Fogle.

Fogle’s attorney, Ron Elberger, had no comment in regards to the plea deal. He said any information regarding the charges would come from the attorney’s office. Elberger did say Fogle’s suspension with Subway continues.

Subway issued the following statement to FOX59 Tuesday:

“We have already ended our relationship with Jared and have no further comment.”

Looks like there won't be any more Turkey and children sandwiches on a bed of fresh greens for Jared.

He will also pay $1.4 million to 14 victims in restitution for counseling, support, treatment, or other assistance related to their victimization.

According to court documents released Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Indianapolis, Fogle used Web sites to solicit commercial sex and traveled to engage in sexual acts with minors from 2007 until June 2015.

The documents also allege that Fogle received images and videos of nude children from the former executive director of Fogle’s childhood obesity charity, Russell Taylor. Taylor also distributed pornographic images of children who were as young as six to Fogle, the documents allege.

“Today, Jared Fogle has been charged and has admitted to participating in a five-year criminal scheme to exploit children,” U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler said in a press conference on Wednesday. “This is about using wealth, status, and secrecy to illegally exploit children.”

Federal prosecutors have agreed not to ask for a prison sentence greater than 12 1/2 years; Fogle has agreed to not ask for a sentence of less than five years. However, the court could impose a sentence that is higher or lower than the recommendations from both parties. The child pornography charges carry a maximum 20-year prison sentence and the child sex charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years.

Earlier this year, Russell Taylor, the former director of the Jared Foundation started by Fogle, was arrested in a child pornography case. He was accused of possessing and producing child pornography.

My guess is that Russell Taylor exposed Jared to the material and Jared just couldn't resist taking a few copies for himself.

I think if there were a statistic outlining how many people in our society engage or even think about engaging in this kind of activity we would be very very shocked and disgusted indeed. I personally think it is far more common than even the media would lead us to believe. I seem to recall a gamespotter even outed himself however I was never saw the thread directly.

He earned those sumptuous living standards by helping a big company to make a shitload of money. He didn't extort Subway out of money or steal Subway's money. He agreed to work for Subway in exchange for a lot of money. And Subway was willing to pay that money because Fogle was generating a lot of money for Subway. Are you under the impression that Subway should have made assloads of money off of Jared Fogle's participation, and then NOT paid Fogle well?

Jared Fogle, the former Subway spokesman, will plead guilty to possessing child pornography and traveling to pay for sex with minors, federal prosecutors said in court documents released Wednesday.

The allegations involve at least 14 minors, and Fogle is accused of engaging in sexual acts with at least one of them, prosecutors say.

As part of a plea deal, federal prosecutors in the documents asked for a sentence of up to 12 1/2 years behind bars — Fogle has agreed to serve at least five years.

The federal documents allege Fogle and Minor Victim 13 arranged to meet through text and online messages, and that Fogle asked her to "provide him with access to other underage minors for purposes of commercial sexual activity" and that "the younger the girl, the better."

Witnesses from Florida, Georgia and Washington state told investigators Fogle also allegedly contacted them to have sex with minors as young as 14 and 15.

Fogle faces one count of traveling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and one count of distribution and receipt of child pornography.

In addition to a prison sentence, Fogle must also agree to pay a total of $1.4 million split evenly among the 14 minor victims, as well as register as a sex offender and undergo treatment for sexual disorder.

Fogle said in a previous statement that he was shocked at the charges and that his foundation was ending its relationship with Taylor.

But federal prosecutors say Fogle received child porn from Taylor between 2011 and April 2015, and that Taylor was allegedly using hidden cameras in his residence to film the minors, some as young as 6.

Agreed, that's why i scratch my head when most of us in the general public think that money and fame changes a persons quality of life.

Besides, at the time that I wrote that, the publicly-announced "charges" were limited to possessing the illegal images. That he's also charged with paying for sex with minors is something I learned only when I read dave123321's posting.

It's not the idea that somebody can make a lot of money in advertising that bothers me. It's the idea that somebody can make a lot of money doing as little as he did that bothers me. He's basically the Pewdiepie of fast food.

In terms of effort expended, he did very little.

A typical Subway employee stands behind a counter all day assembling sandwiches topping-by-topping for fussy guests. He or she must also bake the bread, operate the cash register, maintain the inventory of scores of items, keep the store clean etc. Then he or she usually gets to go home to a tiny, noisy little box of an apartment, struggle to get a decent night's sleep and repeat the whole process again the next day.

Contrast that life with Jared's ...

Every few months (depending on how often Subway needs a new commercial), Jared spends a few minutes standing in front of a camera reciting a few lines with a dumb grin on his face, and gets to go home to a mansion of a home where all his time is "free time".

You can't deny that it's obscene.

Besides, "The Devil makes work for idle hands", as the old saying goes. In this case the Devil made work for Jared's genitals. If he'd been working more and earning less, then he probably wouldn't have wound up patronizing child prostitutes.

The "typical" Subway employee is not as valuable as Jared. Pretty much anyone can stand behind a counter making sandwiches, but far fewer people are capable of being a successful spokesman who generates millions of dollars for the company. How much an employee is worth to his/her employer does not necessarily have anything to do with how many hours that employee works or how much raw effort they put into their job. And if anything is obscene, it's the notion that someone who earns as much money for his employer as Jared should get shitty pay just because he isn't putting in as much raw physical effort or working for as many hours. That's a pretty lopsided arrangement.

What's also dangerous is the flip side of this argument. If Jared shouldn't have been paid well solely because he didn't work hard (and I'm not gonna speculate on how hard his job actually is), then that implies that other workers SHOULD get paid well solely for working hard. And that's a dangerous attitude for people to have. I don't know how successful you are in your career or how much money you're making. But if you're not making a lot of money, and want to make a lot of money, I advise you to rethink things right now. If you're going through life with the expectation that you're entitled to good money just because you work hard, then you're setting yourself up for a big disappointment. The employer's job is not to reward you for working hard. The employer's job is to pay you enough money to make sure that you continue to be valuable to them. If you don't make much money for them, then you clearly aren't as valuable as someone who does. So why should you get paid as much when your labor isn't worth as much?

But the Jared's and the Pewdiepies of the world aren't neurosurgeons. Their skills aren't comparable to those of neurosurgeons. The value of their work isn't comparable to that of neurosurgeons.

They're goons who were elevated to a celebrity status that is in no reasonable way commensurate with the demands of the tasks they perform. They're people who became lopsidedly wealthy by the sheer luck of landing in the right niche at the right time.

And their example doesn't benefit any economy that purports to reward merit. I wonder how many youngsters are blowing off their school work or their college studies because they're convinced that they can become the next Pewdiepie or the next (pre-conviction) Jared.

When they say "child porn", they mean minors under the age of 18 right? It's still wrong and illegal, but hopefully it's that and not actual children children.

By involved do you mean like distributing it, or even "acting" in it, or do you mean watching it? Could it be possible that some kind of malware downloaded that onto his computer or redirected his browser and he actually didn't do anything?
