For those who don't know, Firefox 4 has officially released.
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
I downloaded it, and I think it's amazing. It's very fast. What do you think about it?

Immediately after I installed it, it crashed when I tried to move the buttons around on the menu bar.
NOT A GOOD START!
(It was a 100% fresh install. No add-ons or nothing. No previous versions were on my machine either.)
I went right back to Chrome!
How awful does you computer have to be for it to run so badly? Is it bad/sluggish/a memory hog like the beta?

Been using ChromPlus as my main. I already have Firefox, will it update itself next time I fire it up, or is this completely seperate?
DeepSigh
It depends on your update settings. If you have it set to update automatically, then it will update automatically I presume.

Ah, I'll have a look if this is the case and report back.

Mind you, I am not entirely sure because the people who were on 3.5.16 obviously didn't want to be upgraded to 3.6.15 and the like.[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]

Yep, I had a squint at my settings and automatic updates are ticked. Hasn't updated to 4, though. I guess I'll have to do it manually. Can't be bothered right now.
Hmm, wonder if this will fix the problem I'm having with gifs.
Using the nightly build (slightly older version) and it grinds to a halt when I view too many gifs (a page full of emoticons, for example)
I dislike how Mozilla simply copied Google by having the URL appear in the bottom left corner when hovering the cursor over a link. Having it appear in the address bar like in the one of the betas was a pretty cool idea in my humble opinion.
can that be turned off? it looks pretty crappy, and is completely useless to me.I dislike how Mozilla simply copied Google by having the URL appear in the bottom left corner when hovering the cursor over a link. I downloaded chatzilla, where do I go to access it on FF4?
coolbeans90
WALLETS!!
What did I do =[
Hmmm...it appears I can't update and I have to download an entirely new browser. What happens to my addons?DeepSighThey will all be carried to Firefox 4. This isn't a minor update or even just an update, it's a major update so I should have guessed that you need to install Firefox 4 in its entirety.

Oh, I thought you were making a sarcastic jab at Firefox's incompatibility w/ chatzilla. Anyway, FF 4.0 is compatible w/ chatzilla. (I think) Right click on the home button and there should be a drop down menu. Click "customize" and drag the chatzilla icon onto the menu bar. Instant access.

and windows xp?[QUOTE="APiranhaAteMyVa"][QUOTE="Allicrombie"]still using 3.6.DeepSigh
Xp users are a super race. No reason to 'upgrade' to yucky 7.
I'm posting this from Mozilla 4. Seems pretty nice so far.
I think it is time to move on, XP came out in 2001. Although you could go straight for Windows 8 in a couple years time and be the true superior race.[QUOTE="DeepSigh"][QUOTE="APiranhaAteMyVa"] and windows xp?APiranhaAteMyVa

I dont like the new text. And that gap above the browser.. yes I know its suppose to be transparent until tabs fil lit.. is annoying for me.darkfox101I'm not a big fan of the way the tabs fill it, but I do like the transparent top. I have Windows 7 and the bottom bar is transparent, so now they match. Overall I'm liking it, but it is going to take me a little bit to get used to.

Oborozukiyo
Not awful at all. That's why it's bad that the FF4 beta ran so badly on it. I switched to Chrome afterwards and never looked back.

7 is MUCH better than Xp and I have have had far fewer issues with it than I had with XP. Let go, we're already at SP1 of 7 so any bugs are pretty much fixed.
Hmmm... >Opens Firefox >Browses a bit >Is liking >Ctrl+Shift+P >"Would you like to start Private Browsing? Firefox will save your current tabs for when you are done with your Private Browsing session." >Presses cancel >Uninstalls Firefox Until the Mozilla corporation adds the ability to browse normally and use private browsing at the same time, I will continue using Google Chrome as primary browser with Opera as my secondary browser.GHlegend77
Um...just go into privacy and set FireFox so it doesn't remember your history.
Also, Chrome sends all your browsing info back to Mother Google, regardless of whether your incognito or not. This is why I use ChromePlus.
