Favourite band/artist you like that nobody's heard of!

Mine would have to be Black Tide. Nobody's heard of these guys, but they absolutely kill it.

These guys aren't too popular, but I find their metal more enjoyable than anything I've recently heard, and that's saying alot because I'm not usually a metal person.

i'm being completely serious.

for one:

their song Jesus has been played on the radio quite a few times.

because it's longer than four minutes long, the radio cuts part of the song AND speeds up the tempo.

it's supposed to be a slow song.

(more of a radio complaint.)

but yeah.

when bands i like get popular, it's the same scenario over and over again.

when Lonely Island got popular,

every idiot was like: "oh my gawd!!! listen to this funny song!!! it's called **** in my pants!!!!"

and my reply was: "...yeah. i saw it when it premiered on SNL, and i've liked them for years."

something similar has happened to Taking Back Sunday, Silversun Pickups, Kings of Leon, etc.

i don't like it.

it annoys me.

Art Bears. Amazing music, but I don't ever see them mentioned.

If nobody has heard of them, then I guess I haven't either :P. But really one of my favorite lesser known bands would have to be Neutral Milk Hotel, but I don't typically dig too deep for new stuff. I hate people that think their music is superior because no one knows it. There's a reason why a lot of bands never become popular.

Strapping Young Lad are far from unknown though. Devin Townsend is a well known and respected musician even to non-metal fans and pretty much everyone knows he plays for SYL so I wouldn't exactly say they are unknown. I suppose they're not extremely popular but they have a large fanbase.
