German Shepherd because they are easily trainable and look nice and the police use them for a reason

German Shepherds are bigger and bulkier then the scrawny Doberman.

All the Shep has to do is get the Dobermans face in it huge mouth and it all over.

If you can find one, a Kuvasz or a Kuvasz/German Shepherd mix would make a great dog. We had a mix, best dog I've ever had. Extremely intelligent, VERY protective of family members/ the home, and also very affectionate.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuvasz

Take a look at the "Temperament" section. Describes my last dog PERFECTLY, aside from needing special training or what have you.

I love German Shepherds but thats my preference. Only downside is that once they age, their hips start to fail them.

The one we had could stand on it's hind legs, put it's paws on my 6'1" grandpa's shoulders and look him in the eyes. Trust me... AT LEAST look for a Kuvasz.

That looks remarkably like a great Pyrenees. I have 3 and they're all about as big as you describe. Very loyal as well as intimidating.

I would probably go with the German Shepherd, they can go from adorable to guard dog in a second.

German Shepherd for sure. It has everything you listed there. There are few breeds of dogs as intelligent and loyal as a German Shepherd, not to mention Doberman's are scrawny in comparison. Replace Rottweiler with Doberman and you have a harder decision. Also fits the bill for what you are looking for.

Doberman Pinschers are some of the most elegant creatures on this planet. My buddy owns a gorgeous female named Casey, it's the sweetest cupcake on the planet, but hell no I would not want to piss it off. They are literally the stallions of the dog world. Beautiful creatures.

Sure a shepherd can be more vicious. But the pinscher will get you more poonaner ;)

Doberman's are far from scrawny. They are sleek and slim, but very toned and muscular. Dobermans also have huge mouths and are more naturally aggressive. Not saying the German Shepherds aren't, but I think you are exaggerating it.

Did I not tell you in your other thread that all you will get are people's personal feelings on this? What is important is that YOU need to assess your lifestyle and meet with each breed and see which one suits you and your personality.

True dat. For instance I have learned never to get a Jack Russell no matter how much I like the one on Frasier. They are hyper little buggers requiring endless attention. Oh wait, I jumped through those hoops before though... (Id go with German Shepards though, never trusted Dobbies that much, though they look pretty cool in their own way.)

Get both and train em.

A lethal pair of butt bitters and maulers, no one will dare set foot to conquer or pillage your castle.

From what I know, the German Shepard is a larger dog breed and easily trainable - thus why law enforcement use them. A doberman, on the other hand, is smaller but not scrawny but they are faster and naturally more aggressive. Known for being extremely territorial and training dobermans tend to be far more difficult. They literally can go from cute and cuddly to Kratos-like in a split-second, and do have a reputation of turning on their masters if provoked. Also, Doberman's tend to have issues with their health due to breeding practices, its difficult to find a doberman capable of being a working dog.

Doberman. They are fierce looking and strike fear into the hearts of people. They were bred by a german tax collector to protect him as he did his rounds and to persuade reluctant people to pay up. You won't be disappointed.
