I personally can't stand children. They make me nervous. They're dumb and annoying and rude and mean. I'm glad I can't have any.

You guys suck. Kids are great.
Being the oldest of three children I was expected to help with my younger siblings. My mother also babysat 3-4 (under school age, from infants to 5 years old) kids every weekday up until I was in high school, and again I was expected to help out.
It's great to see little bits of yourself get worked into their growing personalities. It's surprising the traits young kids can pick up on.
There's nothing quite like a little kid snuggling up next to you on the couch or climbing into your lap and falling asleep.
I'm very protective of those around me (kids and adult friends/family alike) and I'm pretty sure it's because I grew up taking care of children. I'd like the opportunity for a few of my own someday, but I can't do it alone.:P

I'm sure older generations find our geenration annoying, and even older generations found that older generation annoying. That's just part of the generational gap.

Pets. Pets are also less irritating and expensive.
I'm a dog guy, but a dog is not a child. Pets can't laugh, sing, babble, wrap their arms around you nor can they get on my couch.
as of a little more than 3 years ago, yes.
though i guess im kinda biased.
ive been taking care of my sisters daughter, basically since birth. my sister moved to Florida, we kept her daughter for a while. then she came back and took her about 3 months ago. she then got into trouble; cashing bad checks, nd such. so we recently(this past weekend) went and got my niece back. shes back where she belongs.
the time ive spent with my niece has been amazing. the things she says, things she does, can just brighten up the day.

I'm not fond of many of the trends teens today follow, but as you said it's always been that way. I don't blame the teens for wanting to be trendy, learning how to operate within a group is an important part of social development.
What I do hold against some teens is that they seem to expect things will be done for them. When I was growing up I was expected to be a functional and productive part of the family by the time I hit my teens (well before then, actually) and most of my peers back then had similar expectations placed upon them.
Mow the yard, rake the leaves, bathe the dog(s), wash the car, vacuum/mop the floors, do the dishes, help with the younger kids, weed the garden, shuck corn and pull string beans, etc., etc., etc.
Of all the teens I know now, I can't think of any that have chores beyond 'clean your room'.
I know it's not the case for all teens and I'm not trying to generalize everyone, but as a trend the above seems to be true from my observations.

They basically are without the cons of being a child.

Good, pets do other things that are better.

I prefer having both, but if I had to choose just having a dog or just having a kid, it'd be the kid no contest.
I've been teaching my nephews (my sisters FOUR sons  ) how to fly fish this summer and there's nothing quite like it.
One time a kid started yelling at my dog and pulling her collar really hard and I wanted to kick him.

Enjoy that 5x9, but hey, it's three squares and a cot.

I'm not in jail.
You didn't kick that little kid either, did ya?
They are just brutally honest, most young ones I've seen dont try and be rude intentionally (they usually just don't know they are doing is wrong)

While a lot are rude and obnoxious, there are still those who obey the rules. It seems like the rude ones outnumber the well behaved ones, but the well behaved ones do exist, so I can't say I dislike them all.
CHOASXIII
Rather indecisive, aren't we?
No? All I said was there are good ones and bad ones, and while I very much so dislike the bad ones, I can't say I dislike chilldren in general because there are those good ones who get on with there school work, mind there own business are just being... good.

That was just a slight rewording of what you already said and it didn't make it any clearer.

I don't dislike them because well behaved kids do exist, and I don't like them because bad ones exist also. My opinion on them as a whole is neutral.

That's not even an opinion then, it's just invalid and moot.
