25% isn't even close to low enough to buy used for me. It needs to be at least half off.
Agree on that. I feel there have to be significant savings to justify it. Most of the used things I've gotten have been high quality, but the risk that it'll just be complete crap discourages me from buying used most of the time (especially for software and electronics where critical flaws can be easy to cover up).
I end up getting most of my textbooks used though, because they're just so damn expensive.
I bought a used Ipod nano (Refurbished but still counts) a used PSP that looks pretty new, bought some used games and I'm thinking on buying a used Iphone. Why? well the price can be worth it sometimes there is a risk involved though but the risk is still there even if you buy new products, you just don't see it that often. Of course, I buy used items within reason I mean if I see something that has a screen so scratched that looks like an angry cat's work I won't buy it.
I will buy used games, books, game consoles. But I will not buy used clothing, used dishes, used toys. I just can't I just think about how many germs are on those items and that I can never get it clean enough.
Only collectibles, CDs, DVDs and sometimes games. I have had bad experience with the latter where CDs would stop working after a few uses so I tend to shy away from them. Once I move up in my skydiving, I'll get second-hand equipment too as you can get amazing deals on that stuff providing you are smart in your purchase. If you're buying a parachute for example, make sure that the seller lets you try it a few times before purchasing, at LEAST. After an issue with an mp3 player, I learned NEVER to buy second hand electronics. Ever.
Only minor stuff like used dentures, glass eyes and organs such as kidneys, livers, etc. Last liver I bought didn't work out too well though, so no more buying livers off of homeless winos for me.
I've always bought used cars for myself. There's such a huge dropoff in price once you drive a new car off the lot, I'll let somebody else take that hit.

It depends on what I'm purchasing. For instance I will buy used books for classes that I don't care about in college, however I make sure to purchase my engineering books new.
Games for sure, things like the return policy at places like Gamestop and EB Games actually favor buying used. My car I bought new though, I think in the long run they've got a much better life line so its worth it in the long run to buy new.
For clothes I have a rule, I wont buy pants or things like shoes used though I will buy jackets used if their a good deal
