No. As if we didn't have enough problems with people on the road, imagine in the air.

Too many risks like cars falling on top of you if a car crashed in the air.

Same thing as a plane would do. Mattering how high they plan to make the cars go.

There are serious problems with people drinking and driving and those who are reckless drivers. Do you really want those same kind of people over your house? The only way I think it would be done if a computer were to do the driving, while the person have no control of it at all unless its on the ground.

In 100 years from now I doubt flying cars will be flying around, but I do believe something drastic or new will happen to the automobile in the near future.

Maybe somehow traffic can be filtered. Those who have had zero DUI's, crashes, tickets, traffic citations, or anything else that matter will be able to fly in the air. The rest will stay put on the roads, thus clearing out some traffic on the roads and highways.

Well, drunk drivers would be test to start the car, by the car. Smashing on buildings would be worst.

Eventually, maybe in a 1000 years if civilization is still alive, maybe, but I wouldn't expect it in the next 100 years, or atleast not on a mass scale.

Maybe in like 50 years, maybe some of those flying motorcycles (Down below) they had in the movie The Island, but I think that would be the most we'll get in our lifetime....

Also, flying cars are far away from a possiblity for New York. They wont even let us fly in video games that are based in new york clone anymore, why would they let us in person?

They'd be a good idea if they were treated like private aircraft, so that only well qualified individuals would be allowed to operate them. But they're wasteful of fuel, and frankly, I never think they'll be cheap enough to be worth the convenience of arriving at your destination a little sooner.

Not unless they could come up with full proof air-traffic programs that would control all traffic. i.e. you'd input a destination, and you'd sit back and the flight software would take you to your route.

People already can't do a simple task like drive a car, so I don't see how they'd manage being able to pilot an aircraft.

Yes, assuming they are driven by internal combustion engines. Obviously it takes much more energy to keep a car in the air than it does to drive it on the ground. And again, that would make the things prohibitive in cost to anyone who could not already afford to buy and maintain a small airplane, which is essentially what it would be.

Yeah... actually, all poloticians in this country (All of them) have many of their own private aircrafts, so they're like flying cars to them really... I blame the Jetsons for putting these ideas in people's heads. Off topic question, I havn't seen you around in ages.

It's just a matter of priorities. I only come here when I feel like some mindless entertainment, and I find that happens less frequently now. There are just too many other things I want or need to do. I don't mind posting. It's just not on the top of the list.

Well, as I've seen on a fair amount of "in the future" science shows, (on the science channel.) The cars of the future, including flying cars, will be computerized. And the computer inside your car will communicate with other cars, making for less to no traffic at all, thus making collisions an unlikely occurance. And drunk driving wouldn't really be worried about considering the car would basically drive you.

Also, flying cars might not come anytime soon, but they've been talking about personal airplanes. Said airplanes will apparently so easy to opperate, if you can work a cellphone, you can fly a plane... Of the future, of course.

Pretty interesting and exciting stuff.

It might be a good idea for emergency vehicles such as police cars and ambulences. Not something for the your typical average joe, though.

There's always a reason why the cops couldn't catch the person, don't expect all criminals to be bad.

kind of it would reduce traffic to poor people that would be driving on the ground. that would also lead to more accidents in the air. there are a lot of people that crash/ a bad driver but it would be worse in the air. i do kind of wish there were flying cars around.

reminds me of a Simpson's episode where Bart sees his future from casino person. him and Ralph are friends and when he goes to his parents house for money Ralph ask what kind of car are we taking hover or wheels? Bart says i think bus. u see the bus coughing of gas and barely working.

Not yet, I think first we need to make cars that drive themselves along girds so that we can avoid accidents on the ground, then once we got that down the same technology could go into flying cars to help prevent crashes. But there could be benefits or flying cars, they could be faster, also like in the film The Fifth Element there could be over lapping "roads".
