Yes. I've had 5 cars of my own - all of them have been manual. I don't know if I even know how to drive an automatic.Engrish_Major
after driving a manual consitently, the first time you try to drive an automatic, there is this akward re-aclimation phase where your reaching for the clutch only to realise like 30 seconds later that its not there.
Manual reminds me of an old tv without a remote, just the dials you gotta spin and click.KiIIyou:lol: Not so in an 18-wheeler, you can shift through the gears without ever using the clutch.

i have a problem with automatics that i always leave it in drive when i park because i'm not used to having to put a car into "park" when i stop to get out.i have a problem with automatics that i always leave it in drive when i park because i'm not used to having to put a car into "park" when i stop to get out.comp_atkinsMy stepdad did that once with his Ford Ranger pickup - he wound up bumping the garage door.
I am from the UK so manual isnt that big of a deal to drive, its not even hard, the test in the UK is pretty bad though and nerve racking. I passed about 2 month ago, I would definatly pick a manual car over an automatic because you just have way more control, plus I dont even really think about changing gears anymore I just know when to do it. Also going 40mph in second gear with my 4" exhaust is loud :D
I just learned, i had a lot of trouble going from stop to first. But, just got the hang of it and it's a blast. How bout you guys?tripp944Yeah, I had a problem giving it to much gas at first but I learned my way around it.
Yes. I learned about 6 and a half years ago. I did it the hard way.. By buying a car with a manual transmission without knowing how to drive stick. I stalled it about 8 or 9 times on the way home.

Was a great, adrenaline-inducing experience.
Would do again.
No it is a waste of time and energy weezyfbYou'll spend more time putting more gas in your car, and more energy stop at the gas pump more often :P
I drive an automatic, and I miss manual which before I drove for 15+ years. Plus my car is a sports model (I was unable to find a manual version). It still has a stick I can put into a manual mode and down/up shift, but without clutch-play it's not the same. I also live on a mountain so I'd like to be able to use gears for braking. Yea, I'm looking forward to my next stick shift.

No it is a waste of time and energy weezyfbIt is also more fuel efficient, safer (greater driver control) and less costly (automatics cost more initially, and in maintenance). Also, with a manual, if you lose a gear, you can still pick others and continue to drive. Auto breaks? Game over. Canada/USA are the only two countries on the planet where the automatic transmission is valued and preferred.
