Yup. I learned how to drive stick about 4 years ago

The only thing that sucks about driving stick is when you're stuck in traffic. Having to shift from first to second gear, the back to first again after a full stop is just annoying.

Yup , it's the only way to really drive . Always try going for the clutch in my girlfriend's automatic because I miss it. It just takes time in the beginning for learning stopping/starting and for starting on a hill.

Nope. The convenience of automatic outweighs the pros of stick.

You bet I can /xaos Actually, my first car was a standard. IMO everyone should know how (should be part of getting a license). It also helps when you learn how to ride a motorcycle

Yeah, I had a '72 Camaro and then an '82 Camaro, both of which had four speeds. I actually learned on my Dad's old Plymouth TC3 way back in the day.

Sometimes, but I am like a wizard. Have gotten used to driving stick in traffic, (was a b**** for the longest time) though I tend to avoid when possible. It's also not as bad as the DC metro area.

I can say from experience, that driving a manual is like riding a bike. I hadnt touched a stick for over 2 years, when I got back into one, it was like I never stopped.

I'd get an automatic for a high performance vehicle. If it's something I'm just going to use to commute, go get chow, and go to bars* in, then I want a car that drives for me.

* And that brings up another problem when you have a stick: It limits who can DD. I've DD'd like, twice in my life and it was lame both times, so I don't wanna do it.

Like 99% of other people in the UK, I am currently learning to drive in a manual.

Virtually everybody "drives stick" here.

Yes. I learned about 6 and a half years ago. I did it the hard way.. By buying a car with a manual transmission without knowing how to drive stick. I stalled it about 8 or 9 times on the way home.

I assume I am capable of driving stick despite never having actually driven stick. I make this assumption due to my experience with ATVs and motorcycles with stick.

I have an easier time on the bike than I do in a car. I assume it's due to the much more precise control I achieve by manipulating something with my fingers, versus pushing on it with my foot.
