This is like asking which pile of poop is the least stinky. Tron doesn't count since it wasn't based on any existing game (although there are several games based on the film franchise).

Tron doesn't count...really?!

Nobody here ever played the Tron arcade game (coin operated) back in the 80's? I pumped a lot of quarters into that machine. Maybe I'm just too old...

That game was BASED ON THE MOVIE. The question was about video games turned into movies.

As for the question, Silent Hill is hands down the best video-game based movie I have seen, even if it was quite flawed. The whole

air-raid siren

touch that they put into the movie was just awesome. I still remember being in awe when that siren went off and the screen went black.

Yep. I remember a couple days after seeing the movie, I was in a rural town that had the exact same siren to announce 12:00. I started losing my shit.

I can totally picture somebody walking down a road with a group of friends hearing that siren and turning to their friends and screaming "OH MY **** PYRAMID IS COMING WE GOTTA GET THE HELL OUT OF WHERE! WHERE IS THE NEAREST CHURCH???" lol.

Forward Unto Dawn, pretty easily too which is sad since its a mediocre movie. It had its moments though.

Actually now that I think about it, there are 2 movies based on games that I liked, and both actually fit within the game's storylines and generally stay true to the worlds they are based in.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Mass Effect: Paragon Lost

I've seen four videogame-based movies: Street Fighter (the older one), Tomb Raider, Super Mario Bros. and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Tomb Raider was the best of them (tho still not a good movie). I'm tempted to say Final Fantasy was the worst because it actually took itself seriously whereas the other two are shitty in a fun way.

The original Silent Hill is the best one I've seen, even if it still has a lot of issues. Prince of Persia wasn't too awful, though.
