I'd put my money on Bronn, son of... you've probably never heard of him.

Bronn

Bronn

Probably Bronn or Sandor "The Hound" Clegane

The kingslayer.
#5 Posted by comp_atkins (31269 posts) -
Viserion, Rhaegal and Drogon
#6 Posted by johnd13 (7986 posts) -

I' m voting for the Kingslayer although it was a hard choice.

#7 Posted by Shottayouth13- (6752 posts) -
Definitely the Hound. Hard ass man to put down. Jamie is overrated methinks.

i would think khal drogo would beat jaimie but when i googled it last week people were saying jaimi. i think if jaimi and gregor fight i think jamie would win. gregor has no skill just raw power. baristan selmy said he can take down all the kingsguard at his age so im not sure how hell do against jaimi. my guess is either jaimie or selmy, prob jaimie?
#9 Posted by th3warr1or (20640 posts) -
I'm pretty sure that GRRM said that Selmy and Arthur Dayne were equals in their prime, with Dayne's sword giving him the advantage.

Considering Jaime only has one hand, I'm going for Barristan Selmy.

That one guy. Seriously there are way too many characters in that show to remember there names.

Bronn also surprised know one has mentioned brienne she maybe a woman but she fights really well King Slayer has a big mouth he can fight but not as good as he thinks he can.

Funny, I was actually thinking about making this thread just a few days ago. I'd say Bronn or Syrio Forell, Although I dont know what happened to the latter (Im only at S2 by now) he was the literally the best swordman of his country and he managed to take several royal watch guards with a wooden sword which actually says a lot. There's no mention of Khal drogo being the best swordman, it just says he was a fierce warrior, but I dont think he could of done much against the hound or bronn or even jon snow, since we saw that dothrakis have issues killing armored men with their curved swords. And Jaime was easily matched by Ned, who, in his own words said that he was ot the greatest swordsman.

she is a really good knight but you gain more perspective on her abilities as the series goes on. one thing that isn't spoiler-y is that men are worried not just that they'll lose to a woman but that they won't win fast enough. this makes a lot of her challengers too hasty and she trains to outlast them and strike while they are tired. a patient person like ned stark or barristan selmy would be a bad match up for her. even jaime lannister, who isn't a patient man, would probably be a bad match up because he's normally in good shape (just not after being tied up for weeks on end).

tbh comparing her to Ned and Barristan isnt fair there both battle hardened veterans with years of experience its a shame you never got to see Robert fight the way they talk about him gives you the impression he was quite the badass in his day.

Strong Belwas or the Red Viper. Next closest would be The Mountain.

it's fair to compare her to anybody when the topic is "best fighter" :P

i like that you never really get to see robert at his best though. he's a buffoon and he does some terrible things, but you also have to pity him. a lot like with cersei, the attributes that help in gaining power don't necessarily help in keeping it.

The Hound... even though he is so afraid of fire he never seems to lose a fight.

Everyone else on that list lost to an opponent, (except maybe Barristan haven't read the books), death by stubbornness is really on the same tier.

who did jaimie loose to?

The Young Wolf, he was captured. Also Brienne, but I'll cut him some slack since he was half starved and living in filth.

we dont know how he was captured though? it could have been 20 stark men. were talking about a one on one sword fight.

#teamgregor Just by the sheer terror the guy instills in all the other characters. That Martell thing was a fluke

hygiene issues aside, i don't see him beating a knight. he doesn't wear body armor (or nothing stronger than leather, at least) and the slashes of his curved sword would be ineffective against the armor of his opponent.
#33 Posted by Commander-Gree (4929 posts) -
I'm voting Gregor. I'd much rather go one on one with Jaime Lannister (hand or no hand) any day than face the Mountain that Rides.
#34 Posted by Motokid6 (5245 posts) -
Barristan Selmy is the most legendary. He was a painter... A painter who only used the color red... After Barristan its Jaime. Then just because there two of my favorites Thorros of Myr and Beric Dondarion ... That flaming sword seems quite popular across Westoros

Dude, Jaime held his own against her when he was chained and starved and out of practice for a year. I dont know if you play any sports but being away for a week is enough to seriously throw you off let alone a year.

Jaime. Dude was a freaking prodigy and got into the kingsgaurd through skill. Of the relevant characters as of the end of book four, I'd say the hound. Dude doesn't really fight super well known people from what I remember, but he did seem like he fought a lot.

Jaime Lannister, Bronn and Sandor Clegane (the Hound).

Loras Tyrell is one of the best fighters in Westeros but we haven't seen much of that so far in the TV show.

Probably Jaime before his little accident. Now though I'd go with Bronn, Clegane is great but his fear of fire is a pretty big weakness, although him destroying Dondarrion even with his flaming sword proves he's a damn good fighter.
